Vie 1sh <br />A public hearing was held in the Selectmen's Room of the <br />Town Office Building, Lexington, on Thursday, September 2, 1937 <br />at 8:20 P. M. upon the petition of Diary G. Mullen and Mary C. <br />Welsh. Messrs. Greeley, Kimball, Ferguson, Ellis, Kraetzer and <br />Nickerson were present. The petition was to amend the Zoning <br />By -Law and Map by changing from an R.2 District to a C.1 District <br />the parcel of land described as follows: - <br />Beginning at Fottler Avenue on the easterly side" <br />of Massachusetts Avenue, extending southerly 265 <br />feet, thence turning easterly 190.24 feet to the <br />Railroad property, thence turning northerly along <br />the Railroad 265.38 feet to Fottler Avenue, thence <br />turning westerly along Fottler Avenue 174.34 feet <br />to the point of beginning: <br />The Clerk read the notice of hearing which had been pub- <br />lished in the August 19th issue of the Lexington Minuteman and <br />sent to property owners which the planning Board designated as <br />being affected by the proposed change. ' <br />The following people were present in regard to the hearing: - <br />Dir. Anselm C D.ullen, tlason H. Stone, 27 State Street, Boston, <br />attorney representing the petitioner, Henry P. Dooley and James <br />F. Prendergast. <br />Mr. Eason H. Stone, representing the petitioner,'presented <br />pictures of the gasoline station at the Rest Inn and stated that <br />the present buildings are becoming greatly in need of repairs <br />and the petitioner proposes to erect a modern gasoline station <br />which willhave a lubritorium and proper equipment for servicing <br />automobiles and selling gasoline. The proposed building Is to <br />cost approximately $3500.00. It is proposed to construct brick <br />buildings of colonial type similar to the majority of the Town <br />buildings. It is felt that it would be an additional service <br />to the'public and at the same time it would not impair the <br />Neighborhood. He stated that there was a small unsightly wooden <br />building between the present cement building and Fottler Avenue <br />used for loading of range oil which has been considered in the <br />proposed layout and it is felt that this equipment could be <br />housed within the walls of the proposed building so the wooden <br />one could be done away with. It is proposed to set the new <br />building and pumps further back from Ptia.ss. Avenue, <br />Dir. Mullen stated that the new building will set back 50 <br />feet from Niass. Avenue and forty feet from Fottler Avenue, 16 <br />feet back from the present building. <br />
