119 <br />where the grass would pull right out if baseball were <br />played there. He felt it should be left at least six, <br />weeks more so that the grass could get rooted. He <br />also stated that the small diamond is as large as a <br />great many towns have. It was left with the Chairman <br />to look over the field and make a decision whether the <br />field should be used or not. <br />At 8;15 P.M. hearing was declared onen by the Board <br />of `Survey on the layout of a proposed street running <br />from Allen Street in a northeasterly direction approximately <br />600 feet. Said street would be known as Allen Street. <br />The Selectmen declared the hearing open on the <br />intention to lay out Allen Street, beginning at what was <br />formerly known as Allen Street and running in a <br />northeasterly direction a distalmce of approximately <br />600 feet. <br />Mr. Custance explained that the Board is laying <br />out this part of the street at the present time and <br />that a study is being made by the Town Engineer to <br />lay the street out. <br />Mr. nesse P. Faria, who owns land where the <br />street is bo be laid out, stated that he had no <br />gbjections to the street being laid out and he would Allen <br />be glad to give the land provided there were no Street <br />assessments of betterments inasmuch as he could <br />not afford to pay any assessments. He also stated <br />that he represented his sister-in-law, Mrs. Mary B. <br />Faria, and that she had no objections if there were <br />no assessments of betterments. <br />Jacintha S. Con dinho stated that he had no <br />obje<�tions provided he would not be assessed for <br />betterments. <br />Mr. Swenson thought that the street should make <br />a turn before it passes the school house property. <br />He had in mind running a street through his property <br />off of Allen Street. The Town Engineer informed him <br />that the territory had been studied and the the lay <br />out as far as the school would not be changed. <br />There were no objections to the lay out's being <br />made. <br />The Board therefor approved the plan prepared by <br />the Town Engineer of the Board of Survey la out of <br />this street. <br />The Board also adopted an ordep establishing a <br />Selectmen's lay out of this street a distance of 600 <br />feet. <br />Letter was received from the State Dept. of Public Conference <br />Works ih reference to a conference to be held Wednesday, re High <br />July 15, 10 A.M., to discuss the construction of High Street. <br />Street, Winchester and the extension of this street into <br />' Lexington.
