118 <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />JULY 14, 1931. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was <br />held at the 'Selectmenr s Room, Town Office Building, at <br />7:45 P.M. Messrs. Trask, Custanee, Blake, Shannon and <br />and Gilcre-ist were present. The Supt. of Public Works <br />and the Clerk were also present., <br />At 7:45 P.M., James J. Carroll, Town Treasurer, , <br />presented the bids on the $175,000. temporary loan to <br />be dated July 15, 1931 and payable April 15, 1932: <br />Bids received_werd as follows: <br />Bids on <br />Temporary <br />Lexington Trust Co. 1992 dis. <br />Loan. <br />Blake Bros. 1.92 plus $1.35 additional <br />Faxon, 'Gadde & Co. 2,03 <br />Solomon Bros. & Hutzler 2.18 <br />First Nat. Old Colony Corp. 2.04'plus $1.75 d.dditional <br />The Board. voted to instruct the Town Treasurer to <br />accept the bid of Blake Brothers, kt their bid of`! -.192 <br />plus $1.35 in addition. <br />The Board signed the Public Carriage License of <br />Licenses. <br />James F. Cavanaugh and approved the bond in connection <br />with his application for a Public Carriage License. <br />' <br />Common Victualler's License was granted to Ashley <br />W. Partridge to do business at 1709 Mass. Avenue. <br />Mr. William G. Pottdr of Walnut Street, mid Mr. <br />Eugene T, Buckley came before the Board. Mr. Potter, <br />representing the Athletic Association, requested that <br />the Association be allowed to use the large baseball <br />field. Mr. Potter explained that Mr. Garrity informed <br />him that he thought the grass at the large diamond <br />was too soft to be used. Mr. Potter stated that he felt <br />as long as the field had been reseeded, he would not <br />hesitate to drive a pair of horses on the field. He <br />also felt that one game of football would take more <br />out of the field than the baseball games would, inasmuch <br />as they play football in the wet weather. He stated <br />that the out-of-town teams they play with feel that <br />the small diamond is too small. He also felt that they <br />would be satisfied with the use of the field once a <br />week, possibly one game in between. <br />The Board informed Mr. Potter that they would talk <br />with Mr. Garrity to see what he said about the matter <br />and they would let him know later what the decision <br />of the Board would be. <br />Mr. Garrity later came before the Board and stated <br />that if the field had all been plowed up and a good <br />foundation put in, he would say that it could be used <br />now for baseball, but inasmuch as the field was only <br />reseeded on the top surface, there would be s ots <br />
