PBC Meeting Minutes <br />14 July 2011 Meeting <br />4.10 Phasing Plan <br />5/12/11 <br />DPC presented a preliminary phasing plan that carries the majority of work over two summers with second shift work and weekend <br />or school holiday work considered. <br />Questions and concerns raised included: <br />Was the estimate based on such a phasing plan, DPC confirmed yes. <br />General concern over the ability of the contractor to complete the work in the time given <br />Administrative section needs to be included in Phase 1 work. <br />Are sufficient existing conditions surveys being completed to avoid delays and change orders during construction? <br />A written narrative of the phasing plan was requested. <br />6/9/11 <br />Concern was again discussed over the content and quality of the phasing plans and specs and additional information, Le more <br />detailed plan, should be requested from DPC. DPF will follow up. <br />4.11 Window Patterns and Operation <br />5/12/11 <br />DPC presented three window designs A, B and C. Architects like type C. Discussion followed. B has most operable units, A the least, <br />Teachers and staff will want most operable units, why not Double Hung, DPC has safety concern on double hung, question on costs <br />changes for operable units. <br />Architects to report back at next meeting on costs of operable units. <br />6/9/11 <br />Discussion on hung windows versus projecting windows. DPF to forward info on hung windows in Fiske and or Harrington. PBC <br />requests cost options on double hung windows. <br />4.12 Project schedule <br />5/12/11 <br />Project schedule was briefly discussed; however final decisions on bid period, town elections, and Town Meeting may rely on <br />outcome of Town Budget Summit meeting to be held in June. <br />4.13 Plan review <br />6/9/11 <br />DPC hung copies of prints for the project around the gym walls for the PBC to walk thru and review the plans. <br />4.14 Meeting with Building Department <br />6/9/11 <br />DPC reports having a meeting with the building department and fire department. The scope of work of the projects was <br />reviewed and the building department and DPC identified some compliance alternatives that would be required. <br />Plumbing code -water closets in kitchen bathrooms <br />Fire wall separation at existing modular classrooms <br />Max occupancy based upon plumbing fixture requested by plumbing inspector. <br />4.15 Energy Code <br />6/9/11 <br />DPC reports project is exempt from stretch energy code except for new work. PBC believes it should be brought to the attention <br />of the BOS the path of the project with regard to the stretch energy code. <br />4.16 Hot Water <br />6/9/11 <br />Plumbing inspector has concern over getting hot water in appropriate time. DPC should test HW at various spots in building to <br />see if existing delivery system is currently compliant. <br />4.17 Skylights <br />6/9/11 <br />A parent group has raised the question of adding skylights in some interior classrooms. PBC discussed having costs established <br />for adding skylights. PBC asked DPC to prepare some options for 6 rooms each in 2 bldgs. <br />Page 6 of 8 <br />
