The Air Force is planning major construction projects totalling <br />1, 000, 000 square feet. A large portion of the buildings s would ...r <br />� P <br />be located in Lexington: a 500,000 sq. foot expansion of Lincoln Lab; a <br />265.000 sq, foot Mitre Corporation facility. Mr. Eddison also reported <br />on Air Force plans for two additional office buildings . • <br />Mrs. Smith noted that the Air Base is one of the fastest growing <br />facilities in the region, and that the Field's water and sewer <br />infrastructure is poorly maintained. She felt that steps should be f <br />taken to ensure improved maintenance if Lexington is to continue to sell <br />the Air Force water under the current arrangement., <br />MINUTES <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve as <br />presented the minutes of the Selectmen's Meeting on March 7 , 1988,o <br />CATV/ TO CONGRESSMAN MAIUM <br />Mr. McSween referred to the request of the CATV and <br />Cammni cations Canmittee that the Selectmen support the position of the <br />National Association of Teleca munications O fficers and Advisors (NATDA) <br />on the impact on catanunities of the Cable Catinunications Policy Act of ' <br />1984, and the introduction of corrective legislation. A draft letter to <br />Congressman Markey,, prepared by the Cable Camtittee had been submitted <br />to the Selectmen, <br />Mr. Marshall agreed that the Congressman should be aware of <br />Lexington's views on the effects of deregulation, but was not in favor <br />of sending the letter as drafted. Mr. Marshall will revise the letter omm <br />for future action by the Board, <br />PROCIAMATION, YOUTH WEEK <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to proclaim the <br />week beginning May 1, 1988 as YOUTH WEED as requested by the BPO Elks, <br />Lodge #2204. <br />TRAFFIC IIMPF40VEMENT DONATION o , RAIN <br />Mr. ison referred in the requirement in the Special Penni.t <br />issued to Raytheon Corporation for expansion of its Spring Street <br />facility that the campany contribute to funds for traffic and safety <br />is Vz ovements in the Spring Street/Hayden Avenue corridor. Pursuant to <br />the 's canmitment to do so, a check in the amount of $80,004 had <br />been sent to the Town. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to accept the <br />$80,000 contribution from Raytheon Corporation to be deposited by the <br />Town Treasurer in the Spring Street/ Hayden Avenue Traffic Improvement <br />account. <br />CONSENT A CENDA <br />■ WATER, SEWER, DEMAND CHARGES <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded. it was voted to abate Demand <br />Charges in the amount of $1.00o Water Charges in the amount of $ 2 2.2 0 ; <br />and Sewer Charges in the amount of $24,00, final bills for which had <br />been paid twice by Hilary Harris, 54 Eldred Street. <br />
