M. <br /> (Chapter 44, Section 65. ADVANCES OF VACATION PAY TO OFFICERS AND <br /> EMPLOYEES. <br /> In any city which accepts this section by vote of the city council, <br /> with the approval of the mayor, and in any town which accepts this <br /> section at a town meeting, advances of pay may be made to any officer <br /> or employee thereof in advance of his regular vacation to the extent <br /> of the pay to which he is about to be entitled during such vacation <br /> period under such regulations as the city or town treasurer may <br /> prescribe.) <br /> Motion, as presented by Mr. Bailey, carried by voice vote. <br /> 9:03 P. M. <br /> Article 74. Presented by Margery M. Battin. <br /> MOTION: That the Town accept Section 8D of Chapter 40 of the General <br /> Laws and that an historical commission consisting of five members be <br /> appointed by the Town Manager, with the approval of the Selectmen for <br /> terms of three years expiring on April 1 except that the initial <br /> appointments shall be one member for one year, two members for two <br /> years and two members for three years. <br /> 9:04 P. M. <br /> Mrs. Battin stated that the Board of Selectmen unanimously support <br /> the establishment of a historical commission. <br /> 9:08 P. M. <br /> Elizabeth Reinhardt, Dan H. Fenn, Jr. and Roland B. Greeley spoke <br /> for the Lexington Historical Society in favor of this motion. <br /> Donald J. Shaw stated that the Historic Districts Commission un- <br /> animously supported this motion. <br /> 9:.25 P. M. <br /> Motion, as presented by Mrs. Battin, carried unanimously. <br /> 9:28 P. M. <br /> Article 75. Presented by Margery M. Battin. <br /> MOTION: (a) That the General By -Laws of the Town of Lexington be <br /> (See amended by adding a new Article XXXII to read as follows: <br /> next <br /> page "Article XXXII - Council On Aging <br /> for <br /> motion Section 1. There shall be a council on aging for the purpose of <br /> as coordinating or carrying out programs designed to meet the problems <br /> amended) of the aging in coordination with programs of the department of <br /> elder affairs. <br /> Section 2. The council shall consist of seven members to be <br /> appointed by the Town Manager with the approval of the Selectmen for <br /> terms of three years expiring on April 1 except that the initial <br /> appointments shall be two members for one year, two members for two <br /> years and three members for three years." <br /> (b) that the sum of $5000.00 is appropriated for the Council <br /> on Aging, and that such amount be raised in the tax levy. <br /> 9:28 P. M. <br /> Mrs. Battin stated that the Board of Selectmen unanimously favored <br /> passage of this article. <br /> 9:30 P. M. <br />
