On behalf of the residents, Mr. � Schatzki and Mr. S i l.va- <br />T � lla had <br />rFjnues t ed that hazards caused by the road configuration be studied and ways to <br />address the problem be explored. <br />The Committee had recommended that a small traffic island be installed <br />at the intersection or Baskin and Baskin, to avoid { 'cutting the <br />corner problems there, and that shrubs, stones, planters, etc, within the <br />'down's right o f wav at X10 and X12 Baskin Road be removed to improve <br />V islbl llty. <br />Mrs McLaughlin, 6-4 Baskin Road, noted the potent for accidents and <br />iirged approval o f the Committee's recommendations, especially the shrub NEW <br />trimming. <br />Mr, Grunst, 9 Baskin Road was also in favor of the recommendations <br />noting the number of accidents and near at that .location. He said he would <br />l ike to try- plantings in the island, Dr. Clarke stressed the need for <br />low <br />shrubbery, <br />Another resident suggested that sidewalk be continued at the <br />i - a tersect -L on e the interest of pedestrian safety. It was felt that removal <br />()f stones and vegetation would allow a clear pa,thwav for walkers in the ri , m ht - <br />fyf - way. <br />L <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve the <br />recommendations of the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee, as presented. <br />HARRINGTON ROAD YIELD SIGN <br />Mrs Chal p in referred to the verbal request of the Lexington Police <br />Department that a )MELD sign be installed on Harrington Road at Mass. Avenue <br />e <br />because of an increase in confusion on the part of motorists in determ' <br />fining <br />who has the right-of-way at this intersection. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve the <br />recommendation of the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee that a YIELD si be <br />installed on Harrington Road, westbound at Mass. Avenue, <br />GRANT(EAST STS STOP SIGN <br />Mr. C haipin reviewed the Committee's report on the request of Susan <br />Karger, ?16 E. Emerson Road, for installation of a STOP sign on Grant Stree <br />t ,.rr <br />at East Street, in the interest of safety to students bicycling to the Fiske <br />and Diamond schools. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve the <br />recommendation of the Traffic; Saf etv Advisory v Committee that a STOP sign be <br />installed on Grant Street at its intersection with East Street. <br />
