-:3 1 ot <br />r' <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING� <br />January 22, 1990 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held on Monday, January <br />22, 1990, in the Selectmen's Meeting Room, Town office Building, at 7:30 p.m. <br />Chai rman Edd Mr, Marshall, Mr, McSweeney; Mr. white, Town Manager; Mr. <br />Cohen, Town Counsel; Ms. Radway, Asst, to the Town Manager; Mrs. Snow, <br />Executive Clerk, were present. ?sirs. Smith and Mr. Dailey joined the meeting <br />Later. <br />M ASS PORT NOISE MONITOR <br />Nancy Timmerman and Sara Arnold, representing Massport, explained the <br />purpose of the proposal to install a 20' pole, at the corner of Preston Road <br />and Crawford Road, to hold a Noise Monitoring device and weather data <br />instrumentation. Ms. Timmerman pointed out that the Preston Road /Crawford <br />Road area is on the approach path to a major runway and is one of the <br />neighborhoods heavily impacted by aircraft noise Input from the Hanscom <br />Field Advisory Commission and from area residents on the choice of location <br />for the pole had been obtained and for suggestions on how the noise problem <br />can be addressed. <br />Sara Arnold said that she had spoken with abuttors, that all had <br />understood the advantages of the installation and were supportive of its <br />purpose. This will be one of two such installations in Lexington with two <br />more in each of the Towns of Lincoln and Concord planned. <br />A resident questioned whether the installation of equipment was an <br />indication of more intensive use at Hanscom. Ms. Timmerman explained that it <br />:was being installed to monitor the existing level of air traffic and its <br />impact. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve the petition <br />plans and orders of the Massachusetts Port Authority for permission to install <br />a 20 -foot high pole with a noise monitoring system and weather data <br />instrumentation in Lexington at the intersection of Preston and Crawford Road, <br />at #17 Preston, Road, Lexington. <br />Mrs. Smith, who had delayed her arrival at the meeting until after the <br />hearing because of her involvement with Massport, joined the meeting at that <br />time. Mr. Dailey also arrived. <br />VOTE To LAYOUT PUBLIC STREETS <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to layout the following <br />FY91 streets as public ways: <br />Philbrook Terrace, 651' from Grassland Street southerly to the end. <br />Solomon Pierce Road, 5404' + , from Maple Street to Woburn Street. <br />Joseph Comee Road, 955' ±, from Solomon Pierce Road to Butterfield Road. <br />Lothrup Circle, 517' + , from Joseph Comee Road westerly to the end. <br />Butterfield Road, Sao' +, from Solomon Pierce Road easterly to Joseph <br />Comee Road. <br />East Emerson Road, 3,350' +, from south of Maureen Road to Ridge Road. <br />:Jonas Stone Circle, 552' ±, from East Emerson Road southerly to the end. <br />Tidd Circle, 630' + , from Grove Street easterly to the and. <br />North Emerson Road, 140' ±, from Diamond Road westerly to the end. <br />
