W <br />..rY <br />Selectmen's Meeting -3-- January 22, 1990 <br />BOW STREET FOTTLE ENUE <br />Mr, Chalpin outlined his Committee's report on the request of Professor <br />B >E> White for prohibition of parking can Mass. Avenue at the corners of Bow <br />Street and Fottler Avenue to allow more visibility for cars turning left on <br />Mass. Avenue. <br />The Committee's exploration of data on Fottler Road's intersection with <br />Mass. Avenue revealed no record of accidents attributable to parked cars at <br />that location and the Board took no action on Professor White's request for a <br />parking ban. <br />Because of several accidents in 1988 and 1 at Bow Street and Mass. <br />,tire -'I1ue it was voted to approve the Committee's recommendation that parking be <br />s <br />prohibited along the entire frontage of #109 Kass. Avenue. Before the ban <br />goes into effect, Mr. Chalpin will discuss this action with the shopowners <br />operating in that block. <br />D.C. HEATH COMPANY SPRING STREET <br />The Committee's recommendations on concerns expressed by Keith Sullivan <br />of D >C> Heath Company for the safety of motorists exiting the company's <br />driveway and his request for installation of a warning sign. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted - to accept the <br />recommendation of the Committee that D >C> Heath Company be asked to consider <br />closing the two driveways they now use and to construct one new driveway at <br />the central location with better visibility. The Heath Company will be <br />advised to contact the DPW to request selective shrubbery clearing at the <br />roadside. <br />CONCORD AVENUE SPEEDING <br />Mr, Chalpin reviewed the Committee's recommendations regarding the <br />problems being experienced by Edward Chardo, 130 Concord avenue, with speeding <br />cars which cause a dangerous condition when he tries to leave his driveway. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve the <br />recommendations of the Traffic Committee, as follows: <br />An additional BLIND DRIVEWAY sign will be installed at #130 concord <br />Avenue; be requested to include this area <br />The Lexington Police Department will q <br />in its selective enforcement program. <br />Regarding lowering of the speed limit, Mr. Chalpin has been informed by the <br />Mass. DPW that the Town's previous request for a reduction to 30 mph will be <br />acted upon within a month. <br />Mr. Eddison thanked Mr. Chalpin and his committee for his excellent <br />reports and, as always, his assistance to the Board. <br />MINUTES <br />Daft Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve, as <br />presented, the minutes of the Selectmen's Meeting on January 8, 1990. <br />RESIGNATION CATV-COMMITTEE <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to accept the <br />resignation of Shang --chap Stella) Liu as a member of the Cable Television and <br />Communications Advisory Committee. <br />
