ADJOURNED SESSION OF THE 1982 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING _- <br /> MAY 10, 1982 <br /> The meeting was called to order by the Moderator, Lincoln P. Cole, Jr. at <br /> 8 P.M. in Cary Memorial Hall and immediately recessed subject to the call of the <br /> Chair. The meeting was reconvened at 8:08 P.M. <br /> There were 179 Town Meeting Members present. <br /> The invocation was offered by The Reverend Arthur H. Kolsti, Pastor of the <br /> Pilgrim Congregational United Church of Christ. 8:10 P.M. <br /> The Moderator called a formal recess in order to honor two Lexington <br /> champions. He then read the following resolutions which were.signed by the <br /> Board of Selectmen - Alfred S. Busa, Margery M. Battin, James F. Crain, Robert <br /> F. Sacco and Stephen Politi: <br /> RESOLUTION - 1982 ANNUAL TOWN MEETING <br /> WHEREAS: Karen Gerenz of Lexington, Massachusetts has excelled <br /> in the sport of diving and has won the State Champion- <br /> ship for 1 -meter diving in the years 1979 and 1980; and <br /> WHEREAS: Karen Gerenz has been named North Sectional Champion <br /> in 1 -meter diving for the year 1981, and holds the <br /> diving record as State and Sectional Champion; and <br /> WHEREAS: she is a member of the All American High School Diving <br /> Team and three times has been selected for the Boston <br /> Globe All- Scholastic Teams; and <br /> WHEREAS: she finished second in the National YMCA 3 -meter <br /> diving competition in 1982; <br /> BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED: that the appreciation of the Town of Lexington be <br /> accorded to Karen Gerenz in recognition of her <br /> accomplishments. <br /> RESOLUTION - 1982 ANNUAL TOWN MEETIN <br /> WHEREAS: Marco Dirks of Lexington, Massachusetts has excelled <br /> in the sport of track and has been named the 1982 <br /> 300 -yard Indoor State Champion; and <br /> WHEREAS: Marco Dirks has won the championship in the Middlesex <br /> League for the 300 -yard sprint; and <br /> WHEREAS: Marco Dirks has been named to the Middlesex League <br /> All -Star in the 300 -yard spring category, and has <br /> established the school record for best time of 32.6 <br /> seconds for that event; <br /> BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED: that the appreciation of the Town of Lexington be <br /> accorded to Marco Dirks in recognition of his <br /> accomplishments. <br /> Both of the above resolutions were adopted unanimously and the two champions <br /> were given a standing ovation. 8:13 P.M. <br /> The Moderator declared that the meeting was now open on Article 15. <br /> (See Pages 92, 93, 94, 95, 113, 114, 139) <br />
