To see if the town will accept the list of jurors prepared <br />and posted by the selectmen as required by law. <br />The town clerk read the list of jurors presented by the selectmen <br />and moved that the names of Warren M. Batcheller and John F. <br />Maynard be stricken from the list, they having been drawn as jurors <br />since the list was posted, and that the name of Edmund K. Hough- <br />ton be taken off at his own request, which was voted. Messrs. <br />Hiram G. Janvrin, Henry S. Raymond and Clifford A. Currier were <br />excused at their own request and the name of Bartlett J. Harrington <br />was added to the list. <br />Voted, That the list as amended be accepted by the town. <br />ART. 8. To see if the town will make an appropriation for the <br />proper observance of Memorial Uay, to be expended under the <br />direction of Post 119, Grand Army of the Republic. <br />On motion of Mr. E. S. Locke it was <br />Voted, That the sum of one hundred and seventy-five dollars <br />($175) be appropriated for the observance of May 30, 1900, to be <br />expended under the direction of Post 119, Grand Army of the <br />Republic. <br />ART. 9. To provide for the support of the public schools the <br />ensuing year, and grant money for the same. <br />On motion of Rev. J: B. Werner, it was <br />Voted, That the sum of nineteen thousand, fivehundred dollars <br />($19,500) be appropriated for the support of schools the ensuing <br />year. <br />ART. 10. To provide for the support of the poor at the poor <br />farm the ensuing year, and grant money for the same. <br />28 <br />On motion of Mr. G. W. Sampson, it was <br />Voted, That the suin of two thousand dollars ($2,000) be appro- <br />priated for the support of the poor at the poor farm the ensuing <br />year. <br />ART. 11. To provide for the support of the outside poor the <br />ensuing year, and grant money for the same. <br />On motion of Mr. G. W. Sampson, it was <br />Voted, That the sum of thirty-five hundred dollars ($3,500) be <br />appropriated for the support of outside poor the ensuing year. <br />ART. 12. To provide for the support of the highways the ensuing <br />year, and grant money for the same. <br />Mr. G. W. Sampson moved that the sum of thirteen thousand <br />five hundred dollars be appropriated for the support of the high- <br />ways, this amount to include the sum of three thousand, five hundred <br />dollars appropriated at the town meeting Sept. 18, 1899, and ex- <br />pended last fall, but which was to be assessed in 1900. <br />Mr. J. F. Maloney made an effort to have the sum increased to <br />sixteen thousand dollars and that three thousand dollars be ex- <br />pended on Lowell St., and other amendments were made increasing <br />the amount of Mr. Sampson's motion, but they were all voted down, <br />and on the original motion it was <br />Voted, That the sum of thirteen thousand, Five hundred dollars <br />($13,500) be appropriated for the support of the highways the en- <br />suing year. <br />ART. 13.
