VI. Lex250 introduction and discussion: Jillian Tung <br /> The year 2025 will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Battle <br /> of Lexington and other events related to the founding of our country. <br /> The Lexington Semiquincentennial Commission was formed as a <br /> town committee to plan events related to the anniversary. Events are <br /> being planned to span the whole year of the anniversary, beginning <br /> from late summer/early fall of 2024. There will be many volunteer <br /> opportunities and Jillian hopes the Council for the Arts will partner <br /> with the commission on public art and music projects with themes <br /> related to the Semiquincentennial. <br /> VII. Publicity update, newsletter discussion <br /> - Steve : A newsletter could talk about the grants, Haiku, utility boxes, <br /> door auction, and that letter could be posted on the website and sent to <br /> about the 200 people on our list. <br /> We will also need to do a lot of publicity for the haiku project and hope <br /> that Jessie will write an article on the CAAL letter or Ashley on other <br /> magazines to get the word out. <br /> Shalini (Annual Arts Festival) will be taking place in September behind <br /> the depot. <br /> During our last meetings, the idea of a signature event had been <br /> introduced. Lisa is suggesting a laugh comedy in January: <br /> - This is an opportunity to bring some life to Lexington during <br /> these dull months. <br /> - This could take place on a weekend with 2 or 3 performers and <br /> be followed by open mics. <br /> VIII/ LexSeeHer follow up discussion <br /> Leslie Masson joined our meeting as a representative from LexSeeHer <br /> with a request for an expression of support from the Council for the <br />
