Highway Maintenance - Personal Services. The amount <br /> asked for for a clerk in this budget is to take care of the <br /> girl at the switchboard in the Selectmen's Office to April 1, <br /> 1946. This is as per request of the Board of Selectmen. <br /> Highway Maintenance - Wages and Expenses. The <br /> amount asked for' labor is divided up as follows: cleaning <br /> roads, 77,000.00, ' repairs to' pavements, 1500.00, repairs <br /> to road shoulders, $2,500.00,500.00, cutting rush-along side of <br /> roads,' �1,500.00, - patch_ing roads, 16,000.00; cleaning catch <br /> basins; .d!i1- 500.00; cleaning drains, 4500.00, cleaning out <br /> brooks, - >;p1,000.00, and miscellaneous work under draf_nage, <br /> 300.00. Rental of private equipment. This ; 300.00 is for <br /> the rental of a trailer to carry equipment around to dif- <br /> ferent locations. Sundry Items - includes kerosene and oil <br /> to be used around brooks at an estimate of 75.00, and repairing <br /> guard rt' is and fence maintenance at an estimated cost of <br /> 350.00, loaning and seeding, $500.00. <br /> Highway Construction - Chapter 90. Amount requested <br /> is to take care of Grove Street. If this- is approved at the <br /> Town Meeting, the State will pay one-half, County one-quarter <br /> and the Town one-quarter. <br /> Highway Maintenance - Chapter 90. The usual <br /> ;'1,000.00 is requested to do maintenance work on Chapter 90 <br /> roads. <br /> Highway Department - Road Machinery Account. Parts <br /> and repairs _ 3, 100.00. Colonel Barry stated that if we do <br /> not get new equipment asked for in the Capital Outlay Budget, <br /> this figure should be increased to over `,5,000.00. <br /> Snow Removal. This storm has cost us $3,490.50. <br /> Traffic Regulation and Control. No discussion on <br /> this budget. <br /> Street s.i_ghts. This budget was changed this <br /> evening by Colonel Barry as he stated that the Board of Select- <br /> men asked to include in this budget Sufficient money for all <br /> night lighting. Colonel Barry stated that the cost has been <br /> increased somewhat due to several new Tights being installed. <br /> Street Signs. Colonel Barry said that a number <br /> of the signs are missing. The old wooden signs have faded <br /> 7,t t and need to be replaced. <br />
