"Department Heads : - There are no Department Heads that rate or are scheduled for increases. Public works Department : - The present hourly rates seem sufficient, together with the amount of overtime they can put in. Senior Clerks : - There are three Senior Clerks not getting present top of 331.05. They ret 327.00. We think a $2.00 increase for these three would be well. Junior Clerks : - There are fii-e Junior Clerks not getting; the $25.30 top. For these re think a -31.00 increase is proper. All '_gull Time employees are now paid in excess of the previous salary schedule." The Appropriation Committee, while waiting for Colonel Barry, started to go ever some of the Budgets. The first budget considered was the Fire Department Personal Services - total amount of $49,163.50. A motion was made, seconded and voted that this budget be approved in the sum of $49,163.50. The Committee then started on the Fire Department - Expenses Account, but no action was taken as Colonel Barry arrived at this meeting at 8:30 P.M. The first budget d!scussed by Colonel Barry was Highway Road Machinery Account - Capital Outlay. This budget includes all new equipment; power shovel to be 1/2 cubic yard capacity; trailer - this is requested to use for loading the shovel, tractor and so forth from one place to another; the two 3 1/2 ton trucks which the Selectmen have requested are to be added to this budget. They are of the "Internationale' make. Colonel Barry stated that only one passenger car is available now for the Department of Public Works. The present snow storm has cost, up to 5 :00 P.M. this evening, 33,490.50. The new snow loader Purchased by the Town loads a ten cubic yard body truck in three-quarters of a minute. Colonel Barry said that during snow storms the Torn is divided into twelve districts, and in each district two trucks are needed which means 24 trucks are needed to take care of each snow storm.
