iVanasse Hangen Brustlin,Inc. <br /> Site Inventory <br /> the"Southern Section"The Northern Section extends from the Forth first phase of the planning process,VHB compiled an <br /> Minuteman Bikeway north to the Burlington town Iine.The extensive inventory database forth e area,working with the Task <br /> Southern Section extends from the Battle Road south to the Force.The inventory covered natural and cultural resources.The <br /> Cambridge Reservoir/Lincoln Street. inventory was used to inform the site analysis and planning/ <br /> design recommendations.The following is a summary of findings. <br /> Land Use and Zoning <br /> Land Use in the Greenway Project Area and surrounding proper- <br /> ties is presented in Figure 4.Land Use within the Project Area was <br /> looked at to determine the potential users and potential conflicts <br /> of land use with the Greenway plan.Land use information was <br /> compiled using mapping information from the Commonwealth <br /> of Massachusetts Executive Office of Energy and Environmental <br /> Affairs Geographic Information System(MassGIS),through a <br /> review of current aerial photography,and field reconnaissance. <br /> Residential uses are indicated in shades of beige,industrial and <br /> commercial uses are indicated in red and purple,and the green <br /> areas on the map represent the Open Spaces/Conservation lands, <br /> which are discussed in the following section. <br /> The entire eastern boundary of the Project Areas is bound by the <br /> Interstate gS/Route 128.Immediately beyond the highway, <br /> development is primarily residential,with the exception of the <br /> Pine Meadows Golf Course and the Meagherville and Turning Mill <br /> Pond Conservation Areas. <br /> There is minimal development within the Southern Section of the <br /> Project Area.The Minuteman Regional High School,the Cranberry <br /> Hill business development and the Minuteman Research Park are <br /> concentrated in an area located to the south of Marrett Road. <br /> There is low density residential development along Lincoln Street. <br /> The majority of the land in the Southern Section is part of the <br /> Cambridge Water Department(CWD)land and the Cranberry Hill <br /> Conservation Area.Land to the west of the Southern Section of <br /> the Project Area is minimally developed with residential proper- <br /> ties on large lots located almost entirely within the Town of <br /> Lincoln.The CWD land extends to the west of the Project Area <br /> into Lincoln. <br /> Residential development within the Central Section of the Project <br /> Area includes neighborhoods accessed from Wood Street lying <br /> both to the east and west of the power line.Residential develop- <br /> ment also occurs outside of the Central Section of the Project <br /> Area adjacent to the west of the Katandin Woods area,namely <br /> along Wood Street,Bates Road,Springdale Road,and Conestoga <br /> 6 West Lexington Greenway Master Plan <br />
