MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE <br /> HELD AT THE TOWN OFFICE BUILDING, MONDAY <br /> EVENING, DECEMBER 13, 1943. <br /> Notification of this meeting was furnished to all mem- <br /> bers of the Committee by letter. <br /> The meeting was opened in the office of the Town Account- <br /> ant at 7:59 P.M. , by Chairman Lewis L. Hoyt, with the following <br /> members in attendance : <br /> Lewis L. Hoyt, Chairman <br /> Richard 11% Maynard Raymond A. Bond <br /> Fred C. Newhall George M. Hynes <br /> Harvey F. Winlock Ronald D. Brown <br /> Carl F. Bryant Raymond L. White <br /> Town Accountant <br /> Minutes of the Meeting Held December 6, 1943. <br /> It was regularly moved and voted to dispense with the <br /> reading of the minutes of the regular meeting held December 6, 1943. <br /> !\****lC4 A \'A <br /> Chairman Lewis L. Hoyt asked the Committee what their <br /> general policy was in regards to salaries, whether they were going <br /> to exceed the maximums as per salary schedule. Richard W. Maynard' s <br /> opinion was not to disturb the present maximums. Ronald D. Brown' s <br /> opinion was to go part way with the Library and the School Depart- <br /> ments on salary increases. Chairman Lewis L. Hoyt thought that a <br /> bonus is the best way to adjust salaries at the present time. Mr. <br /> George M. Hynes said that he could not see that it is the duty of <br /> the Appropriation Committee to set the maximums as the salary sched- <br /> ule was adopted by the Town. <br /> Mr. Raymond A. Bond asked if this Committee were sincere <br /> in its feeling that the employees of the Town were in need 5f more <br /> money. The Committee said that they were sincere. Then Mr. Bond <br /> suggested that a sufficient bonus be given to adjust the salaries. <br /> Chairman Lewis L. Hoyt wanted the Committee to decide <br /> what they ranted to do on the salary situation and then decide on <br /> the bonus. Richard W. Maynard wanted to use the bonus now as an elas- <br /> tic measure. Ronald D. Brown asked if the Committee adhered to the <br />
