Town Celebrations Committee <br /> Meeting Minutes <br /> November 18, 2020 <br /> Virtual Meeting <br /> Members Present <br /> June Baer, Chair; Glen Bassett, Suzanne Caton, Steve Cole, Wei Ding, Linda Dixon, Cerise <br /> Jalelian, Sondra Lucente, Lorain Marquis, Geetha Padaki, Sandy Podgorski, Sue Stering, Sam <br /> Zales <br /> Members Not Present <br /> Karen Gaughan, Mary Hutton, Gresh Lattimore, Julie Miller, Wayne Miller, Bill Mix, Rita <br /> Pandey, Ashley Rooney, <br /> Business: <br /> • June convened the meeting at 7:05 pm and read the Town notice regarding the conduct of <br /> public virtual meetings. <br /> • The committee approved the minutes of November 4, 2020. <br /> • June asked committee members to write up their activities and timelines for this year's <br /> Veterans Day and give the write ups to her so she can keep a record of TCC activities for <br /> future reference. <br /> Martin Luther King Day, January 18, 2021 <br /> • Sam Zales noted that although the last few years, Martin Luther King was honored with <br /> Days of Service, this year would have to be different due to the pandemic. <br /> • All activities will be online: <br /> 0 9:00 am Opening Ceremony. Regie Gibson will be the main speaker. <br /> 0 10:00 am Community Conversation on Race will focus on healthcare <br /> 0 1:00 pm Unity Walk. They might consider doing a car parade. <br /> o Afternoon activities will be done at home and delivered later <br /> • Sam will send the committee more information about the activities and he asks that TCC <br /> members distribute to their networks. <br /> • June suggested that the MLK committee ask Cary Library to distribute information about <br /> the activities to their clients. <br /> Honoring Veterans Banner: <br /> • The banner was hung over Mass Ave in front of Cary Hall from November 9 through 13. <br /> Car Parade Recap: <br /> • June reported that Jill Hai asked June to convey to the TCC that the Select Board was <br /> very happy with the parade. <br /> • Michelle Ciccolo posted pictures of the parade on her Facebook page. <br /> • It was suggested that the same type of parade could be done every year since it is a good <br /> way to get the veterans involved in a safe way. <br /> • Committee agreed that the Boy Scouts did a great job in washing the marker text off the <br /> cars after the parade. <br /> • Committee agreed that the Girl Scout honor guard was very appreciated by the veterans <br /> in the parade. <br /> • Committee commended the efforts of member to generate publicity about the parade <br /> since there was a good crowd cheering on the parade. <br />
