�' ice► :il <br />Selectmen's Meeting - February 26, 1996 <br />Highland Avenue Speedinta <br />The Committee met with Dr. Francis McGovern of 19 Highland Avenue regarding his concern <br />over speeding on Highland Avenue. The Committee agrees that Highland Avenue is used as a <br />Lexington Center by -pass and traffic has increased over the years. However the Committee's <br />feelin g is the only effective deterrent to speeding is an increase in Police presence and recommend <br />increased enforcement on Highland Avenue depending on manpower availability. <br />Board members asked Mr. Chalpin to review the matter again with the neighbors. <br />Wallis Court Handicapped Parking <br />The Committee met with Ms. Army Foronoff of 847 Mass. Ave. and are recommending approval <br />of her request for a handicapped parking space at 3 'Dallis Court with the understanding if it <br />causes a problem the space will revert to its present no parking status. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve the recommendation of the <br />Traffic Safet y Advisory Adviso Committee for a handicapped parking space at 3 Wallis Court and two <br />signs designating the parking space. <br />Waltham/Worthen Road Si nal <br />The Committee met with Mr. Philip Lindsay of 57 Ledgelawn Avenue to discuss his suggestion to <br />add amber left -turn signal arrows to the signals at Waltham Street and Worthen Road. The <br />Committee recommends against implementing Mr. Lindsay's suggestion. They feel that adding <br />amber arrows would be the ideal situation but that the estimated $2,000 cost is not warranted nor <br />can it be justified at this tune. However, they do recommend that when these signals are <br />substantially modified or replaced, amber arrows should be in the specifications. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to accept the recommendation of the Traffic <br />Safety Advisory Committee. <br />Consent Agnd a <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve the fallowing:. <br />a. Commitment of water charges for period ending 7/31/95 (Finals) $3,174.24 <br />b. Commitment of sewer charges for period ending 7/31/95 (Finals) $4,104.82 <br />- billing 11/29/95 $513 <br />C. Commitment of water charges for Cycle 2 Town wide,851.53 <br />s <br />
