<br />Patriots’ Day 2010 <br />General <br />The committee received numerous compliments on the day. <br />Morning ceremonies <br />It was noticed that a small number of boy scouts participated this year. <br />Afternoon parade <br /> <br />Committee members discussed the day and indicated where change and <br /> <br />improvement are needed. <br /> <br />Town departments are meeting on Thursday, May 29, 2010 to discuss the <br /> <br />parade. <br /> <br />A suggestion was made to provide committee members with some type of <br /> <br />identifying clothing (vest, jacket, etc.). <br /> <br />Suzie made two motions. (1) She will make permanent name tags for the <br /> <br />committee members, and (2) she will look into the purchase of some sort of <br />clothing item to identify the committee members on event days. Both motions <br />were accepted and approved. <br /> <br />It was suggested that something be set up (a table or canopy) to indicate the <br /> <br />banner return and bearer checkout area at the end of the parade. <br /> <br />This year’s float winners were <br /> <br />Civic category <br /> <br />First place – Lexington League of Women Voters with Wilson Farm <br /> <br /> <br />Second place – Lexington-Antony, France Sister City/Tourism Committee <br /> <br /> <br />Third place – United States Submarine Veterans <br /> <br /> Youth category <br /> <br />First place – Lexington Youth Commission <br /> <br /> <br />Second place – No entry <br /> <br /> <br />Third place – No entry <br /> <br />Commercial category <br /> <br />First place – Wagon Wheel Nursery and farm stand <br /> <br /> <br />Second place – Mahoney’s Garden Center <br /> <br /> <br />Third place – No entry <br /> <br /> <br />Memorial Day <br /> <br />Suzie has two suggestions for chief marshal and will call them. <br /> <br /> <br />Chaplain (Major) Lance Hoggatt from Hanscom Air Force Base will be the guest <br /> <br />clergy. <br /> <br />State Senator Ken Donnelly is this year’s guest speaker. <br /> <br /> <br />
