<br /> <br />Town Celebrations Committee <br />Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />January 27, 2021 <br />Virtual Meeting <br /> <br />Members Present <br />June Baer, Chair; Glen Bassett, Suzanne Caton, Steve Cole, Wei Ding, Linda Dixon, Mary <br />Hutton, Cerise Jalelian, Gresh Lattimore, Sondra Lucente, Lorain Marquis, Julie Miller, Bill <br />Mix, Geetha Padaki, Rita Pandey, Sandy Podgorski, Sue Stering, <br /> <br />Members Not Present <br />Karen Gaughan, Wayne Miller, Ashley Rooney, Sam Zales <br /> <br />Business: <br /> June convened the meeting at 7:10 pm and read the Town notice regarding the conduct of <br />public virtual meetings. <br /> The committee approved the minutes of January 13, 2021. <br /> <br />Patriots Day, April 19, 2021 <br /> June noted that the Stakeholders meeting was held on 1/20. The following dates were <br />communicated to the stakeholder groups: <br />• February 1 to indicate their plans for participation to the TCC. <br />• February 28 for delivery to the TCC of links to their activities or content to be <br />incorporated in other virtual programs being organized by the TCC. <br /> A meeting was held with Cary Library staff on 1/26 to discuss possible programs to be <br />co-sponsored by TCC and the Library. A presentation about women and the American <br />revolution is planned for 4/13. <br /> June described what the Lexington Minutemen and the Scottish Rite Masonic Museum <br />and Library are planning to do for Patriots day 2021. <br /> June reported that the Select Board was not in favor of the float decorating idea proposed <br />in the previous TCC meeting so we will not pursue it. <br /> June raised the idea of sponsoring a front door or house decorating contest. Further <br />discussion of the idea by the committee was very favorable and included the following <br />suggestions: <br />• The TCC could produce a map of participants and make it possible for Town <br />residents to vote on their favorite location <br />• The contest could possibly be opened to businesses <br />• A theme should be proposed for the contest. <br /> Sub-committees for the various Patriots Day activities were discussed and volunteers for <br />each sub-committee were solicited. Committee assignments are listed below. <br /> Cerise reported to the committee that Scout Troop 160, which traditionally has sponsored <br />a Pancake Breakfast for Patriots Day, is looking into ideas for a virtual breakfast. She <br />will report back to the committee when plans are finalized. <br /> Sue Stering reported that she is gathering photos for a virtual parade scrapbook and has <br />reached out to various Facebook groups for photos.
