• June noted that 8 classic cars will be included in the parade. <br /> • Glen suggested that instructions need to be sent to the parade participants about where to <br /> gather before the parade (Community Center), when to be in place (by 12:30), when the <br /> parade will start (I pm), and to clarify social distancing requirements. <br /> • Sue Stering mentioned that a motorcycle group of veterans want to participate in the <br /> parade. Bill Mix recommended that the committee check with the Lexington Police on <br /> permitting the group to participate. <br /> • Possible routes for the parade were discussed and a route starting at the Community <br /> Center,proceeding down Mass Ave, going around the Green, and ending at St. Brigid's <br /> church was approved by the committee. June noted that the Lexington Police approved <br /> that route. <br /> • Steve Cole offered to include a float created for the Minutemen in the parade. If music is <br /> included in the parade, it can be broadcast from a sound system in the truck pulling the <br /> float. The committee approved the idea of including the float and details will be <br /> determined later. <br /> • The parade working group has suggested that the TCC provide flags to be attached to the <br /> veterans' cars and the committee approved. <br /> • Other suggestions for decorating the veterans' cars were discussed, including crepe <br /> paper, printed posters, and markers to write messages on the cars. The committee thought <br /> that markers were a good idea, as long as enough TCC members were available at the <br /> Community Center gathering place to help decorate the cars. Cerise will investigate if the <br /> Boy Scouts might be able to help clean off the markers at the end of the parade. <br /> • Cerise volunteered to ask the William Diamond Jr. Fife & Drum Corps if they would be <br /> available to play on the Green as the parade passes by. <br /> • June and Ashley noted that we need to generate a lot of publicity about the parade to <br /> make sure enough Town residents come out to watch the parade. <br /> • Linda Dixon volunteered to contact the School Department to ask them to let students <br /> and parents know about the parade. <br /> • Wei Ding will let CAAL members know about the parade. <br /> • Ashley asked Sue Stering to provide pictures of the classic cars to be included in <br /> publicity. <br /> November 2 Program with Cary Library <br /> • June reported that the November program with Cary Library will consist of interviews <br /> with 3 veterans by Ashley Rooney. <br /> • Ashley asked the committee to give her questions to ask the veterans. <br /> The meeting adjourned at 8:20 p.m. Next meetings: 10/14, 10/21, 10/28 <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> Suzanne Caton, Secretary <br />
