Town Celebrations Committee Meeting Minutes October 7, 2020 Virtual Meeting Members Present June Baer, Chair; Glen Bassett, Suzanne Caton, Steve Cole, Wei Ding, Linda Dixon, Cerise Jalelian, Gresh Lattimore, Lorain Marquis, Bill Mix, Sandy Podgorski, Ashley Rooney, Sue Stering Guest: Gina Rada Members Not Present Kim Coburn, Karen Gaughan, Mary Hutton, Sondra Lucente, Julie Miller, Wayne Miller, Geetha Padaki, Sam Zales Business: • June convened the meeting at 7:06 pm and read the Town notice regarding the conduct of public virtual meetings. • The committee approved the minutes of September23, 2020. Honoring Veterans Banner: • June showed a slide of the consensus banner design previously agreed on. The committee approved the following minor changes to the design: o Remove Town seal. o Add a sixth service icon representing our newest branch, the Space force. o Add a sixth star to reflect this new branch. o Remove dashes before and after the phrase "Lexington, Massachusetts." • The Committee approved this banner design, as amended. • June plans to submit an official request to produce and display the banner on Friday, October 9. Production and delivery will take one week. Gift Cards for Veterans: • June and Kim Katzenbach from the Selectmen's Office will purchase 150 $10 gift cards from Dunkin by 10115, using the Town credit card. • The charge will be applied directly to the TCC budget. • The deadline for veterans to request inclusion in this program is October 15. • Suzanne will send out the cover letter and gift card to the veterans. Virtual Veterans Day Program: • Steve Cole volunteered to work with the Minutemen and Lex Media to videotape the Minutemen performing a volley on the Green. • Steve confirmed that he is working on providing a 2 minute tribute to Dan Fenn to be included in the Veterans Day video. • The committee discussed whether the Minutemen could be videotaped raising the flag on the Green, and also posting the colors and ringing the Lexington's bell. Bill Mix will assist Steve in resolving these issues. Car Parade for Veterans on November 11, 2020: 0 June reported that 21 veterans have been confirmed to participate in the parade.
