<br />Town of Lexington, Massachusetts <br />GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES FOR PROCLAMATION REQUESTS <br />Proclamations are issued by the Town of Lexington Select Boardto recognize the milestonesand <br />achievements of individualsandorganizations, to honor occasions of significance to the community, and <br />to increase public awarenessof noteworthy causes. Theproposed proclamationsare reviewed on a case- <br />by-case basis prior to acceptanceand are issued based on the compliance of the below outlined guidelines <br />and procedures. The Select Boardreserve the right to declinerequests at its sole discretion. <br />Guidelines for Proclamations <br />Proclamations can be requested for recognition of events, ceremonies, orcelebrationsof an individual or <br />organization within the Lexington community.Requests for proclamations will be processed based on the <br />following criteria: <br />a.Proclamations are for residents, organizations, or events located or organized within the Town of <br />Lexington. <br />b.Proclamations may recognize a day, week or month. <br />c.Proclamations that are issued for recognition of a resident typically include, but are not limited to, <br />the following: <br />Cultural celebrations; <br />Municipal or civic promotions; <br />Special honors or achievements (such as a retirementor milestone birthday). <br />d.Proclamations are outlined usinga “Whereas”clause format(asample proclamation has been <br />included as a formatting reference). <br />e.Proclamations are to be submitted with advanced noticeand containcomplete and accurate <br />information, as outlined in the “Procedures for Requesting a Proclamation”section. <br />Proceduresfor Requesting a Proclamation <br />Requests for proclamations should be submittedto the Select Board Office4weeksin advance of the <br />datethe proclamation is needed.
