Town Celebrations Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> February 27, 2019 <br /> Lexington Community Center <br /> Members Present <br /> Lorain Marquis, Chair; June Baer, Suzanne Caton, Kim Coburn, Wei Ding, Linda Dixon, Karen <br /> Gaughan, Cerise Jalelian, Sondra Lucente, Julie Miller, Bill Mix, Sandy Podgorski, Sue Stering, <br /> Members Not Present <br /> Glen Bassett, Carol Flynn, Mary Hutton, Paul Jenkins, Gresh Lattimore, Wayne Miller, Geetha Padaki, <br /> Rita Pandey, Dave Taylor, Bob Tracey, Sam Zales <br /> Business: <br /> • The chair reported that a quorum was present and the meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm. <br /> • Minutes from the meeting of February 13, 2019 were approved. <br /> • The committee briefly discussed the Heritage of America band concert which was held on <br /> Monday, 2/25. The concert went well but the committee regretted that there wasn't a larger <br /> audience, perhaps due to bad weather. <br /> • Lorain noted that the TCC Facebook page is being reviewed by the Town Manager's office. <br /> • June Baer informed the committee that she will create a database to hold photos from TCC <br /> functions and asked committee members to send her any photos they might have. Be sure to <br /> identify the content and date of the photos. <br /> • Linda and Lorain reported that they have contacted the new Superintendent of Lexington <br /> Schools and hope to set up a meeting with her soon. The Superintendent responded very <br /> positively to Linda and Lorain about getting involved with TCC. <br /> • Lorain noted that she is planning to set up a meeting with the Arlington Town Celebrations <br /> Committee very soon. <br /> • The next TCC meeting will be on March 13, 2019. <br /> Patriots' Day, April 15, 2019: <br /> • June Baer and Sue Stering reported on their recommendations concerning parade units <br /> proposed by Golden Bough Productions. The units they recommended be followed up on <br /> included: <br /> ➢ Uncle Sam stilt walker <br /> ➢ Hip Hop band <br /> ➢ African drummers <br /> ➢ Hot Tamales Brass Band <br /> • Lorain will follow up with Golden Bough. <br /> • Bill Mix will talk to Larry Conley about getting some antique cars to participate in the parade. <br /> • Sondra Lucente suggested someone should contact Barrett Jackson about antique cars for the <br /> parade. <br /> • Sandy noted that she has created a poster to advertise that the Navy Band will be in the parade. <br /> She also asked how many copies of the Patriots Day Weekend Schedule should be printed. The <br /> committee recommended 600 copies. <br /> • Sandy brought up the issue of counting the parade audience and noted that when she researched <br /> the issue, it became clear that we couldn't hire an outside firm to do the counting because of <br /> cost and size of the parade. <br />
