HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION <br /> A• meeting of the Historic Districts Commission was held <br /> at 8s00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 12. 1979 in the Selectmen's <br /> Room, Town Office Building, Lexington. Present were Commissioners <br /> John R. Packard, Chairman, Georgia H. Williams, Secretary, John <br /> L. Davies, Roland Greeley, S. Lawrence Whipplet and Associate <br /> Commissioner Linda J. McAulgy. <br /> At 8x15 P.M. Leader Federal Savings & Loan Association <br /> presented a request for the installation of 4 sknlights at <br /> 1840 Massachusetts Avenue to compensate for the loss of 5 <br /> windows on their westerly elevation next to which Almajo Realty <br /> Trust is constructing a second floor addition. The skylights <br /> will not be visible from ground level. The bank also requested <br /> permission to construct a "sentry shelter" at the rear of the <br /> premises, under an existing roof, with a planter beside it. <br /> After a brief discussion it was VOTED to approve both <br /> requests as presented. <br /> At $:30 P. M. Ralph Schlueter, owner of Baskin-Robbins, <br /> presented 'more specific information about the awning he wishes <br /> to erect on his store-front at 1729 Massachusetts Avenue. <br /> Several color samples were submitted, and there was discussion <br /> not only of color, but also length and other dimensions of the <br /> awning, the type of fringe and lettering thereon. At 8x45 P.M. <br /> <br /> it it was VOTED to approve a dark brown vinyl awning, with white <br /> lettering, and fringe to be selected by the applicant, further <br /> details to be incorporated into a certificate of appropriateness. <br /> <br />
