HISTORIC DISTRICTS COMMISSION - 2 - June 21, 2978 <br /> An in formal meeting was held at 8:45 P.M. with Mrs. Wizotsky of Books- <br /> on-the-Green requesting change of sign from 7 Meriam Street to 1837 Massa- <br /> chusetts Avenue and erection of awnings for said store at f837 Massachusetts <br /> Avenue. The Commission agreed to approve the sign change xith hearing to be <br /> held on July 19th. She stated that they want awnings because of the glare <br /> of the afternoon sun and for visibility. Mr. Boardman of Suffolk Awning Co. <br /> showed color samples and difference styles of awnings. It was suggested that <br /> color #9913 (orange awning with white trim) might be acceptable. The meet- <br /> ing was adjourned at IOaiO P.M. <br /> An informal hearing was held at 10:10 P.M. on a proposed expansion of <br /> Rowe Chevrolet at 33 Bedford Street. John Davies submitted a plan view and <br /> elevation plans for the extention. <br /> Then followed a discussion of the removal of the gold leaf wood letters <br /> from the Ye Olde Bargain Barn sign. Mrs. 3tilliams showed photographs of <br /> various historic plaques which have been approved. <br /> Mr.l~hipple said that Ken Mitchell had called him regarding the instal- <br /> lation of an "automatic teller" at the Cambridgeport Savings Bank branch at <br /> 1751 Massachusetts Avenue. It was decided that they should attend the July <br /> 19th meeting for an informal discussion of this proposal. <br /> The meeting was adjourned at 10:50 P.M. <br /> - y~ <br /> Geor~a H.
