PLANNING BOARD MEETING <br />February 16, 1970 <br />The meeting of the Planning Board in its office was called to order at <br />7:30 p.m. on February 16, 1970 by Chairman Lund with members Clarke, <br />' Graham and Worrell and Planning Director Zaleski present. <br />The budget request for the Planning Board staff for 1970, as approved BUDGET FOR <br />by the Selectmen, was signed by the chairman. PERSONAL SERV. <br />Upon a motion duly made and seconded, the Board unanimously VOTED: <br />To extend the time for Planning Board action on the Idylwilde <br />subdivision to April 28, 1970, as requested by the developer. <br />Next considered was the proposed building line for Wallis Ct. and <br />the adjacent portion of Massachusetts Ave., as requested by the <br />Selectmen. The draft of a reply prepared by the planning director <br />was discussed. It was decided to limit the response to the opinion <br />of the Planning Board that building lines, rather than zoning, are <br />considered more appropriate because of the selective nature of the <br />restriction. The letter was amended and signed by the chairman. <br />IDYLWILDE FARM <br />EXT. OF TIME FOR <br />PL.BD. ACTION <br />WALLIS CT. <br />BUILDING LINES <br />The Board agreed to take out in the motion on Art. 88 the words ARTICLE 88 <br />"in order to fulfill Lexington's responsibility to furnish its AMENDMENT <br />proportionate share of such housing in the metropolitan Boston area." <br />The minutes of the Planning Board meeting of February 9, 1970 were MINUTES APPROVED <br />approved with amendments. <br />Next reviewed was the plan for the proposed R & D Electronic at 44 <br />Hartwell Ave. The letter commenting on the proposal, prepared by <br />the planning director, was approved. <br />The Board reviewed the notices of the Board of Appeals hearings for <br />March 3, 1970. It was decided to advise the Board of Appeals that <br />the proposed addition to the Fudge Funeral Home meets the require- <br />ments of the Zoning By -Law. It was further decided to oppose the <br />variance for the Concord Ave. Sellars commercial garage on the basis <br />that it is a residential area and the previous non -conforming use <br />had been discontinued. <br />Next discussed was the sewer connection from Mason St. to the Town <br />sewer in the easement on the Wilson's land. <br />R & D ELECTRONIC <br />44 HARTWELL AVE. <br />B/A NOTICES FOR <br />MARCH 3, 1970 <br />MASON ST. SEWER <br />A copy of the Town Engineer's letter to the Board of Appeals relative T. E. LETTER RE. <br />to the Treadway Inn revision was noted and placed on file. TREADWAY INN <br />The Board discussed the proposal by the Selectmen to Lay out Downing DOWNING RD. <br />Rd. It was agreed to advise the Selectmen that the Planning Board ACCEPTANCE <br />has no objection to the laying out of Downing Rd. but that the Board <br />recommends that maximum effort be made to preserve healthy trees, <br />even if it means that the pavement would not be exactly centered <br />within the right-of-way. <br />Mr. Ernest W. Kitchen met with the Board to inquire <br />into the Board's <br />SUBSIDIZED <br />attitude to the possibility of building subsidized <br />housing in place <br />HOUSING - <br />of his proposed Springdale subdivision. The Board <br />felt that the <br />E.
