BOARD OF APPEALS HEARINGS <br />' September 25, 1973 <br />A regular meeting of the Lexington Board of Appeals was held on Tuesday, <br />September 25, 1973 at 7:30 p.m. in the Selectmen's Meeting Room of the Town <br />Office Building. Present were Chairman Nickerson, regular members, G. Sheldon, <br />W. Brodhead, G. Wadsworth and Ruth Morey, a Minute -man Publications' reporter <br />and a large audience of townspeople. <br />Public hearings were held on the following petitions, notice having been <br />mailed to the petitioners, to the owners of all property deemed by the Board <br />to be affected thereby as they appear on the most recent local tax list, to <br />town boards and officials who will or might be affected by decisions made and <br />also advertised in the Lexington Minute -man newspaper. <br />Adriaan E. Schrauwen - variance from the provisions of Section 27 and other <br />applicable sections of the zoning by-law, so as to allow for a side yard of <br />ten feet on each side of the proposed dwelling, instead of the required 15 ft. <br />The address of this lot is 17 Green Lane. <br />Honeywell, Inc. - special permit under Article III, Section 2 (g) (1) of the <br />sign by-law of the town of Lexington, and other applicable provisions of the <br />sign by-law and zoning by-law, to erect and maintain an addition to the appli- <br />cant's existing sign at,2 Forbes Road. The addition to the existing sign <br />shall conform with the plan submitted. <br />' William C. Gottlieb - special permit under Section 25.21 of the zoning by-law <br />to establish a gourmet cooking school. Classes would be held five days a <br />week, Monday through Friday, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and possibly 7 to 9 <br />p.m. on the same evenings. Each class attendance would be limited to eight <br />enrollees. Various items of food would be prepared for the "class". Food <br />would not be served, nor would it be sold. No exterior signs of any kind are <br />desired. There is more than adequate parking space in the driveway, so that <br />street parking would not be required. <br />W. R. Grace & Company - finding and determination concerning the proposed con- <br />struction of (1) an office building and (2) an addition to the existing re- <br />search laboratory building on the property owned by W. R. Grace & Company at <br />55 Hayden Avenue, Lexington, and requests issuance of a special permit as <br />specified in Section 25 of the Lexington zoning by-law. <br />Johnson Brothers Greenhouses, Inc., by its President (Vice) General Manager, <br />Frederick T. Johnson - special permit under Section 25.31 of the zoning by-law <br />of the town of Lexington, entitled "Commercial Greenhouses" to erect and main- <br />tain commercial greenhouses on a parcel of land containing 6.83 acres more or <br />less situated southeasterly of the existing greenhouses owned by the petitioners, <br />numbered 31 East Street, substantially in accordance with a plot plan filed with <br />petition. Said greenhouses to be erected to be "Superlite Plastichouses." <br />The petitioners own and operate the existing greenhouses situated at the inter- <br />section of East and Adams Street and the means of entry and exit utilized for <br />the existing greenhouses as shown on the plan, will serve the proposed green- <br />houses. The existing boiler room will provide heat for the proposed greenhouses. <br />Following the hearings the Board made the following decisions, all in <br />puplic meeting: <br />
