of cities, towns and contractors that are using the various <br />' types of graders. <br />Mr. Clark stated that he had checked on the f inanoial <br />rating of the various concerns who have submitted bids <br />and that all were all right with the exception of the Waco, <br />which did not have any financial rating at all. <br />Commitment of Miscellaneous Water Charges in the <br />amount of $12.00 was signed by the Board. <br />Several applications for the position of Supt. of <br />Pub .lie Works were received. Mr. Potter moved that in <br />view of the lateness of the hour, the matter be held <br />over for one week. Mr. Ross seconded the motion and it <br />was so voted. <br />437 <br />Commitment. <br />Supt . of <br />Pub. Works, <br />Mr. Clark remarked that Mr. Traskts letter of the <br />Supt. of <br />previous week requesting that the Board furnish him with <br />Public <br />a reason for his dismissal had not been placed on the <br />Works? <br />docket. The Clerk informed the Board that Mr. Trask had <br />letter* <br />requested that the letter be not discussed at this meeting. <br />Mr. Ross stated that he wished to bring up the matter <br />of the disruption in the Police Department. Sergeant <br />Rycroft has been put on the last half of the night and <br />he understands that he is not to try any Court cases. <br />Rycroft is very much disturbed about it and asked that <br />the matter be brought before the Board as he feels that <br />he has been demoted. He had some time coming to him and <br />so is taking it now and will be off until next Thursday. <br />Police <br />He did not feel that the shift to which he has been <br />Department. <br />assigned required the services of a Sergeant. Mr. Ross <br />stated that the Board must have felt that Rycroft was <br />the best man in the Department or they would not have <br />appointed hizi. acting Chief and if he was the best man, <br />he thought that he should be put on days. Mr. Ross <br />suggested that the Chief be requested to appear before <br />the Board next Tuesday evening and the Clerk was instructed <br />to so advise the Chief. <br />Mr. Mitchell discussed the case of James Redman who <br />has a wife and three children and was granted supplementary <br />aid around May 1st. He has been discharged from the ' Redman <br />W.P.A. and the Town will now have to give him more aid. aid. <br />Mr. Mitchell recommended that he be aided in the amount <br />of $12.00 per week. Mr. Potter moved that the recommenda- <br />tion be approved. Mr. Ross seconded the motion and it was <br />so voted. <br />Mr. Mitchell discussed the case of Lawrence J. <br />Devine, a State case. He has a weak back, was laid off <br />the W.P.A. and did not know whether or not he would Devine <br />return. He recommended that the man be aided in an amount ease, <br />not to exeeed $10.00 per week. Mr. Ross moved that the <br />recommendation be approved. Mr. Potter seconded the <br />motion and it was so voted. <br />
