1 <br />395 <br />SELECTMENTS MEETING. <br />MARCH 26th, 1935. <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held <br />in the Selectmen's Room, Town Office Building at 7:30 P.M. <br />Messrs. Lyons, Gilcreast, Ferguson, and Potter were present. <br />The'Clerk was also present <br />At 7:30 a meeting of protest was held on the failure of Protest <br />the Board to reappoint the Supt. of Public Works and the Clerk Meeting., <br />of the Board of Selectmen. A petition requesting the Board to <br />reconsider its action was presented by Mr. Francis E. Burke, <br />and arguments were presented by Mr. Burke and Mr. Richard S. <br />McCabe. <br />The Clerk of the Board, Mrs. Whittemore, was then asked <br />to retire and Elsie M. Comeau was appointed Clerk Pro -tem. <br />After consideration, the Board agreed unanimously not to <br />reappoint the present encumbehts.of the above offices. <br />Letter was received from the British Naval and Military <br />Veterans Assoc. asking permission to conduct an Annual Pilgrim- <br />age to the historic battlefields of Lexington, Bedford and <br />Concord and carry out commemorative exercises in this Town <br />on Sunday. May 26th. <br />The Board voted that permission for such an occasion be <br />granted. <br />Clerk - <br />Pro -tem. <br />Protest <br />Meetipg'� <br />Decision, <br />Permit tc <br />parade. <br />The Board signed a Certificate relative to the character pert. of <br />of William R. Greeley, one of the Incorporators of the New Incorp- <br />England Town Planning Association. oration. <br />The Board voted to appoint two new Police Officers; Police <br />the two appointed were•John A. Russell and George C. Barry. Officers. <br />This apointment is to take effect April 15th. <br />Appointment of Special Police Officers was laid over Special <br />for one more week. Police. <br />Letter was received regarding writ of attachment in <br />action of Tort to inhabitants of the Town of Lexington, to Barry <br />answer to Barry Mead in District Court, Concord, Saturday, Mead <br />the 20th day of April, 1935, at 9:00 A.M. The Board decided case. <br />to turn this over to the Town Counsel. <br />The Board approved the Bond of Patrick J. Maguire and <br />also that of John C. Russel. as Constables. <br />Letter was received from the Planning Board regarding <br />• the parking of cars in the business center. They believe <br />that a condition exists that warrants investigation. They <br />stated that they believed it would be worthwhile to obtain a <br />parking census over a period of a business week, and were of <br />the opinion that E.R.A. Labor could be used for this purpose. <br />They felt that the census should be operated on a "surprise" <br />basis. The Board decided that the Clerk should get in touch <br />with the Planning Board and the E.R.A. Administrator. <br />Constable Ts <br />Bonds. <br />Parking <br />census <br />
