' MEETING, MAY 16, 1922.
All Members Present.
The records of the last meeting were read and approved.
Mr. Willard C. Hill came before the Board relative to In-
surance matters. He informed them that the new rate on insurance
as revised would be 1.36 on a thousand for five years. He also
gave figures showing the rates in other towns surrounding, and
the comparison showed that Lexington's rate was low.
He called attention to the fact that as long as the Stone
Crusher was removed that the blanket total could be reduced that
amount namely $3500, and that credits could be received from the
different agents or the amount could be placed upon some other
building, The Board took no action on the matter.
Mr. Blake called attention to a valuable picture by William
Hart that hung in the Hancock School and questioned whether we
should have additional insurance on that.
Mr. Hill informed the Board that insurance on the pictures
could be recovered in case of damage, but suggested that a list
of the valuable pictures in buildings could be filed so that
adjustment matters would be eaeier.
Permission was granted to the Edison Electric Illuminating
Company to attach wires and fixtures to existing pole of the
New Eng. Tel & Tel. Co. on Lowell St. - second pole from East
1 Street, towards Woburn St. one pole.
Letter was received from the Town Zngineer enclosing plan
giving other location than those proposed by the Lexington Gas
Co. on Charles St. Cary St, Taft Avenue, Chase Avenue, Butler
Avenue, Tucker Ave. and Oak Street.
A hearing was declared open upon the petition of Mrs. Ida
H. B. Capper for a license to maintain a public garage on
Middle Street about 100 feet from the junction of Waltham Street
and Middle Street.
There were present Mrs. Ida H. B. Capper, Mr. Capper and
Miss Hannaford for the petition, and Mr. Robert E. Burnett and
Mr. Neil McIntosh de remonstrants.
A petition signed by Robert E. Burnett, J. C. E. The signers of this
petition were opposed to the erection of a garage.
Mrs. Capper gave her reason for requesting a garage in
this section which was mainly that she wished to utilize the
five acres of land in some way so that she could obtain some
revenue.
'
The Board declared the hearing closed at 8:40 P. M. and
considered the matter. Action on the petition was postponed for
one week.
Mr. Willard C. Hill came before the Board relative to In-
surance matters.
