<br />Minutes <br />Town Celebrations Committee <br />October 12, 2016 <br />Parker Room, Town Offices <br />Members present <br />Linda Dixon, acting chair, Bob Tracey, Henry Murphy, Wayne Miller, Rich McDonough, Sandy Podgorski, <br />Julie Miller, Karen Gaughan, Suzanne Caton, Paul Jenkins, Carol Flynn, June Baer, Kim Coburn, Sondra <br />Lucente, Bill Mix, Glen Bassett, Cerise Jalelian <br />Members not present <br />Dave Taylor, Sam Zales, Lorain Marquis (chair), Linda Levitt, Gina Rada (Veterans liaison), Dick Crogan, <br />Geetha Padaki, <br />Business <br />The Chair declared that a quorum was present. <br />The minutes of September 14, 2016 were approved as amended. <br />The minutes of September 21, 2016 were approved as amended. <br />Linda announced that Mary Hutton has been approved by the Board of Selectmen to join the TCC. She <br />will attend the next meeting. <br />Linda announced that the next committee meeting will be held in the Cotton Room in Cary Hall. <br />Veterans’ Breakfast, November 5 <br />Sandy Podgorski reported the decisions of the breakfast door prize sub-committee: <br />The process for awarding and distributing the door prizes will remain the same as in previous <br />o <br />years. <br />Each veteran gets one ticket. Tickets will be given only to veterans. Two people working at the <br />o <br />ticket table will request veteran’s information (name, address, email address, branch of service, <br />etc.) on a file card. The card will then be used as the door prize ticket. Ticket table will be <br />located away from the sign-in table, to prevent congestion. <br />Tickets (file cards) go into one basket from which door prize tickets will be drawn. <br />o <br />Prizes will be delivered to tables by TCC members. <br />o <br />Bill Mix suggested that we ask Gina Rada to be at the ticket table. <br />Karen confirmed that Msgr. Garrity of St. Brigid’s will offer the invocation at the breakfast. <br />There was a discussion about the use of sandwich boards to advertise the breakfast. Karen is in contact <br />with Hank Manz about using boards that the scouts have. Suzanne and Karen will take care of getting <br />permission to post a board at Depot Square. <br />Rich McDonough reported that he has spoken with Susan Carabbio of the Rotary Club and she plans to <br />attend one of the TCC meetings before the breakfast. Don Martini is the Rotary contact for the <br />breakfast. <br />Bob Tracey reported that Wagon Wheel has agreed to loan us flowers for the table centerpieces. They <br />have also donated a fruit basket as a door prize. <br />Sandy showed the video of pictures of Lexington veterans that will be shown at the breakfast. <br />Rich raised a question about whether security might be an issue at the breakfast. After discussion, the <br />committee decided that there was no need to arrange any security. <br />Linda Dixon reported that the article that she gave to the Colonial Times about the breakfast was not <br />included in the most recent edition. She plans to send an article about the breakfast to the Minuteman <br />paper next week. <br /> <br />
