<br /> <br />Town Celebrations Committee <br /> <br />Virtual Meeting MINUTES <br /> <br />March 16, 2022 <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Full Members (11): Present: Steve Cole, Linda Dixon, Cerise Jalelian, Gresh Lattimore, Lorain <br />Marquis, Bill Mix, Geetha Padaki, Sandy Podgorski. Absent: Glen Bassett, Sondra Lucente, Julie <br />Miller. Quorum: 6 <br /> <br />Subcommittee Members (15): Present: Sudha Balasuryan, Yifang Gong, Mary Hutton, Sue <br />Stering. Absent: Aneesha Karody, Samita Mandelia, Wayne Miller, Ashley Rooney, Hong Xie. <br />6 vacancies. <br /> <br />Guests: None. <br /> <br />7:02 PM: Meeting called to order by Chair, Geetha. <br /> <br />7:04 PM: Minutes of March 9, 2022 approved. <br /> <br />Patrio Day Planning <br /> <br />Sponsorships (Lorain): Have 13 in hand, which is the normal number. Have many unopened <br />replies yet to be counted. <br /> <br />Publicity (Sandy): <br />- <br /> Mary reports that the Saturday, April 16, shedule at Tower Park is as follows: <br /> - 1 pm: Lex High School Bicentennial Bank to perform. (Not on patriotsday.com website.) <br /> - 2:30 pm: William Diamond Fife & Drum Corps to perform. their 20th year anniversary. <br /> Other fife and drum corps are being sought by her. An article for one of the newspapers <br /> should celebrate this occasion. <br /> - 4 pm: British Retreat Reenactment commences. <br />- <br /> Flyers will be handed out to Wilson Farms and Eric Shoes by Ashley. <br /> <br />Youth Parade (Steve): This 7:30 am event on April 18 has been attracting fewer and fewer <br />crowds year by year. Astonishingly, the Ceremony on the Green following it presents the most <br />prestegious Town awards: the White Hat and the White Cane. But there is great resistence to any <br />change. <br />- <br /> Geetha suggests approaching the Youth Commission, church youth groups, and other youth <br />groups to participate to enhance attendance. This is something we should focus on next year. <br /> <br />TCC Core Group (Geetha): <br />- <br />The 2:30 pm Wm Diamond concert (April 16) has been approved by the Town. <br />- <br />Parking at Scottish Rite site: Geetha is stilling trying to find the proper contact. <br />- <br />Geetha has met with Sgt Dave Bresnahan of the Police Dept. be in charge of the policing of <br />both parades. Mary and Linda will draft an overview for him. Cerise said how important it is for <br />the parade units to march together tightly to avoid gaps by the time they reach Lexington Center. <br /> <br />Parade Units (Lorain): <br />- <br /> 78 units have been confirmed. <br />- <br /> The following units were, by motion, unanimously approved <br /> - New England Historic Military Vehicle Collectors (no tracked vehicles will be driven) <br /> - Bhakti Center of Lexington <br /> <br /> <br />
