Semiquincentennial Commission (Lexington 250) <br />Wednesday,February 1,2023 <br />Meeting Minutes <br />Pursuant to notice duly filed with the Town Clerk,the Semiquincentennial Commission (Lex 250) <br />convened via Zoom on February 1 at 4:00,as allowed by legislation (S.2475)extending the <br />suspension of certain provisions of the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law. <br />Present:Suzie Barry (Select Board Member),Steve Conners (Reenactment Community),Barry <br />Cunha (Local Business Representative),Bebe Fallick (Tourism Committee Representative), <br />Cerise Jalelian (Town Celebrations Committee Representative),,Jillian Tung (Music and Arts <br />Representative),Jane Hundley(LPS Representative),Julie O’Leary (Civic Representative),Guests: <br />Carol Ward,Executive Director,Lexington Historical Society 4:05 pm and Rick Lofria,Executive <br />Director,Greater Merrimack Valley CVB 4:25 pm <br />Welcome 4:00 pm <br />Guest:Carol Ward,Executive Director,Lexington Historical Society 4:05 pm <br />●Excited about Lex250 and thinking about the broad sense of planning 2025.Will stick <br />with the regular menu of events for Patriots Day Weekend <br />●Capital Projects:Updating the Depot (hopefully done by October 2024)April 4,2023 is <br />the ground breaking.Special exhibitions will be housed in this space during the 250th <br />celebrations.Hancock Clarke Barn updates and reinterpretation of Buckman Tavern <br />●Member Comments/Questions <br />○Ms.Barry:Merchandise?Ms.Ward is working with a person on this.Has a <br />connection with people in the industry who does merchandise for various <br />organizations <br />Guest:Rick Lofria,Executive Director,Greater Merrimack Valley CVB 4:25 pm <br />●Direct marketing organization-advocate for communities at tourism trade shows,senior <br />trade shows,academic trade shows,social media,WCVB, <br />●Will help promote events.There are mini-grants available-can cover up to 20%of an <br />event’s marketing budget (look at website for information).Merrimack Valley Attractions <br />Group-Inviting folks from the region and taking them around the area.Does co-op <br />advertising,National Parks too,New England Association of Schools and Colleges-they <br />can communicate with this group too. <br />●Greater Merrimack Valley CVB utilizes a lot of social media,mostly people from NY,CT, <br />and a 50 mile radius around the area. <br />●Member Comments/Questions <br />○Ms.Fallick -Merrimack Valley CVB might not resonate with people who don’t <br />know that Lexington is in this geographic area.Mr.Lofria will work to make sure
