Number of people being assisted is very difficult <br /> to get at reported Mrs. Banks, however, the report <br /> which is due will be in the hands of the Board of <br /> Selectmen and the Town Manager this week. <br /> 2. Mr. White asked the Board just where were we headed? <br /> We need some direction here and I do not want to get <br /> in a long debate on the floor of Town Meeting re this. <br /> 3. Mr . Furash stated that the Appropriation Committee <br /> felt "let down" by the commitment made by the Selectmen <br /> re the report on Human Services . <br /> 4. Mr. Blaisdell stated that he didn't think the Town <br /> should be involved in supporting a private organization <br /> dealing in clinical research. <br /> 5. The Board of Selectmen voted in favor of Replace budget. <br /> 6. Mr. Clough stated that 90% of the budget is in salaries. <br /> To be successful it must have town commitment. New <br /> programs will be coming up in the future . (No new <br /> personnel will be added as a result of this. ) <br /> 7. It was moved and seconded to have the Chairman make <br /> the cut in the budget on the floor of Town Meeting <br /> 4 to 3. <br /> V. Mr. Furash made the following statement to the Board of <br /> Selectmen: <br /> "I would like to thank Mr. Bailey <br /> for the years of warm friendship, <br /> friendly arguments, and moral <br /> lessons. For us it has been a great <br /> pleasure to work with you and we - <br /> thank you very much.
