337 <br /> APPROPRIATION COMMITTEE <br /> DATE: March 6 , 1978 <br /> TIME: 7 :30 P.M. <br /> PLACE: Town Office Bldg. Room 111 <br /> PRESENT : Donald White , Chairman, Richard M. Perry, Secretary, <br /> John Blaisdell, Peter Hall, Edward Furash, William <br /> Dailey, Martin Gilman, Mitzi Kutchin <br /> I . REPLACE <br /> 1. Personnel presently employed do not have proper training <br /> was the opinion of several members of the Appropriation <br /> Committee . <br /> 2. John Blaisdell recommended $7,850 only. This is something <br /> the Town should not be involved in. I do not see support- <br /> ing a private organization that is not supporting them- <br /> selves. <br /> II . D.P.W. <br /> 1. Mr. Blaisdell reported the following information re "valves" : <br /> a. $15.00 per valve . <br /> b. $30.00 thermostat and control. <br /> c . Total cost including labor $117 .00. <br /> d. 15% cost savings on fuel due. <br /> 2. Town Manager is to report back to the Committee on exactly <br /> what cost savings will be re request from Mr. Blaisdell. <br /> III . RECREATION - POOL <br /> 1. Renovation plan for Pool Complex was presented by the <br /> Recreation Committee . <br /> 2. Approximately $1,000 will be necessary to finance new <br /> person which will be needed to man pool during peak hrs. <br /> If necessary, this could involve 2 new people: <br /> 3. Donald White stated to the Board of Selectmen that the <br /> Appropriation Committee would probably favor the new plan <br /> however, the vote would be close . <br /> 4. Selectman Busa stated that he felt the cost was too <br /> much for a 10 week activity. <br /> 5. Selectmen' s vote was 4 yes - 1 obstained. <br /> 6. Mr. Silverman stated he felt that the Committee should <br /> support the Recreation Committee and the Selectmen. <br /> 7. Mr. Gilman made a motion that the Appropriation Committee <br /> approve the Planning money for the $685, 000 pool. <br /> Upon motions duly made and <br /> seconded, the Appropriation <br /> Committee voted 4 in favor and <br /> 3 against. <br /> SO VOTED <br />
