all periods of the towns’ history. The commission felt the brick ranch home located at 7
Slocum is a very good example of the types of homes being built in the 1940’s and 50’s,
in addition to being in scale with the neighborhood and its site. Therefore the commission
indicated there would not be support for demolition.

The commission suggested other options, such as adding on while maintaining the
character of the existing structure, but the petitioner indicated the financials would be
difficult to work for a smaller scale project.

The commission commended Mr. McDonald for taking the time to review his options
early in the process.

2. 6 Parker Street
Petitioner – Peter Kelley
Re: Exterior Changes – skylights/rear addition/windows

Mr. Kelley presented architectural sketches indicating changes to the east, west and north
elevations. The changes to the rear of the home include enclosing an existing porch,
adding a deck over the existing porch with new French doors from the master bedroom,
and relocating various windows at both the first and second floors in the same general
area as the porch enclosure. Mr. Kelley indicated all materials and details would match
the existing house.

The presentation also included the addition of skylights towards the front of the house on
both the east and west roof sides. The west side faces the “Avenue” and the commission
indicated there would not be support for skylights located on that side of the structure. In
regards to the east side, the main issues to be resolved before a formal hearing will be the
size of the units and their placement. Currently the proposal is for two 30”x55”h units
placed randomly on the roof. The recommendation was to indicate smaller sized units
placed in relation to the existing windows of the structure.

MEETING WAS ADJOURNED AT 9:15 PM
