HEALTH <br />INTERN <br />SANDERSON <br />HOUSE - <br />SNYDERS <br />SMOSKE'S - <br />HORSE PERMIT <br />RE -APPLYING <br />BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING <br />January 7, 1980 <br />The regular meeting of the Board of Health was held Monday, January 7, <br />1980. Members present were: Dr. William L. Cosgrove, Chairman; Mr. James <br />W. Lambie, Dr. Michael S. Erdos and George A. Smith, Director of Public <br />Health. <br />Mr. Smith introduced Sandra Gabriel to the members of the Board. Sandra <br />has joined the Health Department as an "intern" to help Mr. Smith with his <br />inspections. <br />Mr. Smith told the Board that Chief Corr had reported that during the <br />past weekend, January 5th and 6th, there had been no activities going on <br />at Sanderson House on Mass. Ave. The police had been watching it closely. <br />Mr. Smith said he had talked to the Snyder's attorney and told him he <br />had names of people that had gone to Sanderson House for dinner. <br />Dr. Cosgrove said he had gone by the past weekend and he had seen cars <br />there but Mr. Smith said the Chief of Police said they had not conducted any <br />"restaurant business" that past weekend. <br />Dr. Cosgrove stated that the Snyders should go before the Board of <br />Selectmen for a common victualers license. <br />Mr. Smith said the main permit should be issued by the Board of Health. <br />Dr. Cosgrove said that the whole matter should be straightened out by <br />Town Counsel. <br />Mr. Smith said he <br />should be straightened <br />Dr. Erdos said it <br />be documented and then <br />Board of Selectmen. <br />had discussed it with Town Counsel and he said it <br />out by all boards together. <br />should be left on a surveillance basis until it can <br />letters should be sent by Board of Appeals and the <br />The members agreed if it is documented they are "operating a restaurant" <br />for the public and nothing is done all boards are remiss. <br />Mr. Lambie stated if the Board of Health finds that they are operating <br />then they should institute a fine to the Snyders. <br />Mr. Smith reported that the Smoske's have filed another application to <br />keep horses. He said that the Smoske's still have not been able to get <br />together with the Freier's about the permit. <br />Dr. Cosgrove said it should be treated like a new application and if <br />the Freiers object we will not issue a permit. <br />Mr. Smith said all horse owners have a horse get out once in awhile <br />but the Smoske's horse get out every day. <br />Dr. Cosgrove said the people living in the area have put up with <br />enough all of these years with the Smoske's horses. <br />Mr. Smith said the attorney for the Smoske's has been in contact with <br />him and is trying to put something together. <br />
