Holt . <br /> The Town Clerk proceeded to read the Wattant , but upon <br /> motion , the further reading of the Vidarrant was dispensed with . <br /> The Town Clerk then read the Constable ' s return of the Warrant . <br /> nrt . 2. . Under this article Mr . Albert B. Tenney , Chairman of the <br /> Committee on Investigation of the '' ire & Water Departments , <br /> offered the written report of the Committee which had been mailed <br /> to the voters with the Town Warrant . <br /> REPORT OF COMMITTEE APPOINTED BY THE TO\'jN TO STUDY ITS <br /> FIRE AND WATEh DEPARTMENTS . <br /> December 20th , 1928 . <br /> To the Citizens of the Town of Lexington : <br /> At the adjourned annual Town Meeting held on March 121 19r8 , <br /> Articles 4 , 28 and 30 were taken up jointly and the following <br /> motion ras adopted : <br /> " That Article 4 in so far as it relates to the Fire Department <br /> and Articles 28 and 30 be referred to a Committee of five to be <br /> appointed by the Modeel� 4�� one from the Board of Selectmen and <br /> eublic Works , and foutrt izens , none of whom shall bef <br /> o flee <br /> holders or employees of the Town . " <br /> " That this Committee study carefully the Fire Department <br /> in all its particulars especially the adequacy and efficiency of <br /> all its apparatus of every kind and description, including the fire <br /> alarm system, the personnel_ of its permanent and call men and their <br /> ability and training for the position held and paid for , the <br /> location of our station houses and possibilities of consolidation , <br /> and re-location - - new and better sites , if any , for htusing - - <br /> living accommodations and hours of duty of the permanent members , -- <br /> the laws governing the Fire Department and its legal relationship <br /> to our present form of Government -- and our water system , with <br /> special reference to the adequacy of street mains for the proper <br /> fire protection . " <br /> " And that in order to aid the Committee in its studies all records <br /> of the Department together with its entire personnel , as well as <br /> that of any other department having any relationship or dealings <br /> with the Fire Department be made available for the attention and <br /> consideration of this Committee . " <br /> " And that this Committee be empowered to employ the services <br /> of a properly qualified fire-fighter from any of the Metropolitan <br /> cities , or experts from the New England Insurance Exchange , in order <br /> that the Committee may be well advised . " <br /> " And that this Committee report at a later Town Meeting as to -- <br /> 1 - The necessity for a new pump and two additional permanent men . <br /> 2 - The adequacy of the present apparatus including the fire alarm <br /> system . <br /> 3 - Proper number of permanent men and what provisions are now made <br /> and should be made in the future for their training . <br /> 4 - The possibility of consolidating the two station houses . <br /> 5 - Possible location for a new site should the study show con- <br /> solidation to be advisable . <br /> ti <br />
