<br />th <br />Lexington 300 Anniversary Celebration Committee <br />Incorporation Weekend <br /> – Saturday and Sunday – discussion on how to schedule <br />events – assigned slots or times randomly scheduled throughout the days. It was <br />the sense from discussion that a combination of both set times - 9 a.m. – 11:00 <br />a.m. – 1:00 p.m. core event slots with other events dispersed throughout the days. <br /> <br />Motion to approve minutes of July 13, 2011 was made and adopted unanimously. <br /> <br />TH <br /> <br />3.T300AY <br />HEMES FOR THE NNIVERSARY EAR <br />Discussion on the theme ensued. A generally supported theme of <br />th <br />‘Lexington’s 300 – We are Lexington’ was presented. This theme allows for the <br />many faces, facets, and events of Lexington’s 300 years to be featured. <br /> <br />Jim Hollister, National Park Service, in questioning what we wish to celebrate, <br />offered possibilities such as: <br /> <br />Antique auto community <br /> <br />Hats competition <br /> <br />Review of 1813, 1913 celebrations <br /> <br />War of 1813 and Lexington <br /> <br />Other possibilities include – segmenting timeline, Worthen Collection, other <br />group/individual collections & holdings, historical review of newspaper <br />advertisements – costs, products, companies, etc. <br /> <br />Jim Hollister identified development of the Whittemore house within the National <br />Park Service, its Lexington location, and possible highlighting along with other <br />Lexington sites such as Parker’s Revenge, the Bluffs, Fiske Hiss, etc. <br /> <br />Jessie questioned interest in the NPS Junior Park Ranger program, to which Jim <br />indicated that program is mostly of interest to visitors. <br />Jim is also active in the colonial dancing community. <br /> <br />Opportunity to connect the Liberty Ride or other such programs to the Whittemore <br />House events, possible Liberty Ride tour for the afternoon, special route? <br /> <br />4.
