<br /> <br />Introduction: all members <br /> Each member introduced himself or herself and described his or her <br />participation in community affairs. Interests and experience ranged from professional <br />to volunteer work with youth, Lexington Education Foundation, Cary Library, the Senior <br />Center, Science Fair, and the PTO. Service for all members included much work on <br />many committees. <br /> <br />The Charge: Pam Hoffman <br /> The Charge was reviewed and explained. The Committee is charged with <br />reporting to the Selectmen on the concept of a Lexington Community Center using: <br />● <br /> existing data <br /> ● <br /> focus groups <br />● <br /> individual interviews <br />● <br /> observing practices in other communities <br />● <br /> attending and participating in the LWV September convocation on <br /> community centers co-sponsored by the League, the <br /> Recreation Department, Council on Aging, and Stand for Children <br /> <br /> Concerns voiced by members: <br />● <br /> “Stuck in the Weeds” rather than helicopter view <br />● <br /> Staying focused <br />● <br /> “Not reinvent the wheel”--seek out existing data and individuals involved in <br /> related studies <br /> <br /> Work Plan and Schedule: <br />● <br /> Gather data--May-July <br /> ● <br /> Staff data <br />● <br /> Visit existing centers <br />● <br /> Previous related studies <br />● <br /> Analyze data—August-October <br />● <br /> Create report—November-January <br /> <br /> Laura will send out a “Doodle” to find convenient times for future meetings. <br /> <br /> <br /> Respectfully submitted, <br /> <br /> Jane Trudeau <br />
