<br />• Hosted the fifth annual open house in May at the opera-
<br />tions facility. More than 500 residents and children par-
<br />ticipated in demonstrations of equipment and explana-

<br />trucks and learning about different public works jobs and

<br />• The Director continued to participate in the Northeast
<br />Homeland Security Council, consisting of 89
<br />Massachusetts communities. A regional homeland securi-

<br />Tabletop exercises and simulated emergency situations
<br />have identified where training and resources are needed.
<br />• With the creation of a new Highway superintendent, the
<br />Manager of Operations was transferred to this division.
<br />• Monitored and evaluated almost $700,000 in municipal
<br />buildings utility costs.
<br />• Provided management and administrative support for the
<br />regional HHP facility, including maintenance of the facili-
<br />ty, accounting, and analysis of statistics for the eight mem-
<br />ber towns.
<br />• Continued work on the assessment phase of the APWA
<br />accreditation process.
<br />• In March the Director participated as an evaluator for the
<br />APWA Accreditation Program in the city of Bowling
<br />Green, Kentucky.
