Ali <br />!� <br />Selectmen's Meeting 4-3- October 31, 1988 <br />All present had expressed favor with the plans but concerns were <br />expressed about the two -year c letion date projected. In the interest <br />of safety, interim improvements had been suggested . <br />It was agreed that efforts should be continued to promote <br />improvements as quickly as possible to ensure the safety of motorists. <br />HOUSING MEMNG <br />Mrs. Smith announced that a meeting of the Selectmen with all <br />Boards. Ccmdttees and Town agencies concerned with efforts toward the <br />provisions of affordable housing has been scheduled for Monda November <br />21st, at 8:00 .m, in Estab Y <br />p rook Hall. <br />RECYCLING UPDATE <br />Ms. Railway reported on progress with the Town -wide Recycling <br />Program, started on October 3rd. The first month of residential icku <br />128 tons of r cl t p <br />grossed nearly ecy ables or about l0� of all collected <br />waste. <br />Richard Spiers reported on the Town office Building recycling <br />�Y � <br />program. He informed. the Board that the collection folders had been <br />installed for each of the 70 desks and estimated that about Jlb. a da <br />of recyclable material is discarded Y <br />by each worker. The Town will share <br />with ORinc revenue generated by about 10 tons/year. <br />Amy Wagner of the waste Management Task Force will meet <br />Superintendent of Schools Dr. Geiger, for discussion of School <br />participation in this program. <br />Mr. Marshall suggested Chamber of Cam - erce involvement in <br />encouraging the participation of large businesses in Town. <br />Mr. Spiers further reported that curbside collection was smoothin <br />out with far fewer calls fran resident d <br />s per day. He informed the Board <br />of a 70% effectiveness rate, as opposed to a national start- ate of <br />50% and a rate of 95% r P <br />regarding the appropriateness of materials <br />collected. <br />LEAF C .T.EY'' ON <br />Ms. Radway noted that November 5 has been designated for the Town's <br />third curbside collection of leaves. She outlined procedures for <br />pickup, transport to the landfill and the process whereby the material <br />is made useful for landscaping purposes, <br />MINUTE NON PARK GENERAL bVU4AGEv= PLANS <br />Th e Planning Board Joined the Selectmen for discussion of their <br />positions on the Draft Gen Management Plan for the Minute Man <br />National Historic Park., and response to the Park Service on the <br />proposals contained in it. Residents of the Hayward Pond neighborhood <br />were also present. <br />Mrs. Smith noted that it was the wish of the Selectmen to present <br />to the Park Service a united Town position on the plan. <br />The Planning Board's draft position paper, prepared by Staff dated <br />October 27, 19 8 8 , was reviewed. Mrs. K - auminzer noted that her Board <br />had not at that time reached a final decision on the section of its <br />statement concerned with possible land takings in the Hayward Pond area, <br />Mr. Eddiscn pointed out that the deadline for response to the Park <br />Service was the next day, and urged Planning Board nxmters to arrive at <br />its final statement, <br />
