f f e <br />WE <br />TOWN REPORT COMMITTEE /MMA TOWN REPORT AWARD <br />Members of the Town Report Committee and farmer TRC member Erna <br />Greene met with the Board by invitation for acknowledgement of Mrs. <br />Greene's outstanding service to the Town while she was a member and <br />chairman of that Committee. Mrs. Smith noted the fine Town Reports <br />prepared under Mrs. Greene's chairmanship through the years and <br />announced that Lexington had again been awarded a prize by the Mass. <br />Municipal Association for the excellence of the 1987 Report. All <br />members of the Town Report Committee, as well as Mrs. Greene, were <br />complimented for their efforts and the Chairman presented Mrs. Greene <br />with a framed Award Certificate recently received. <br />APPOINTMENTS - TOWN REPORT COMMITTEE AND CHARGE <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to reappoint the <br />following to the Town Report Committee for terms to expire on June 30, <br />1989: <br />Now <br />Robert Morrison 73 Blake Road <br />Ruth Karpinski 24 Wyman Road <br />Judith Dandison 65 Blake Road <br />Stephen Wade 524 Concord Avenue <br />Winifred Friedman 176 Grove Street <br />and to appoint the following for terms to expire on June 30 1989: <br />Marsha Baker 46 Burlington Street <br />Judi Ozuransky 95 Woburn Street <br />Fred Wischhusen 39 Peacock Farm Road <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded to approve the Charge to the <br />Town Report Committee. <br />NATIONAL HISTORIC PARK (HAYWARD POND NEIGHBORHOOD) <br />Mrs. Smith referred to the proposal for expansion of the Minuteman <br />National Historic Park boundaries which includes potential acquisition of <br />residential land and homes in the Hayward Pond neighborhood. Four <br />Selectmen had met on the previous Saturday on -site with representatives <br />of the neighborhood association to view the land which would be <br />impacted under the Park's plan and to hear the neighbor's concerns. <br />Mrs. Smith reported that Mr. Eddison is preparing a response to the <br />Park's draft General Management Plan to be carried out in three phases <br />which would restore the Battle Road to its approximate unpaved surface <br />and would relocate Rte. 2A and obliterate Old Mass. Avenue, Marrett <br />Street and Airport Road. Town Engineer, Frank Fields' 6/22/88 memo <br />outlining the General Management Plan and its implications was noted. <br />Mr. Eddison complimented the Hayward Pond area residents for their <br />effective efforts in alerting the Town of the impact of the Park plan. <br />He reported that he had been in touch with Robert Nash, Park Director <br />who informed him that the Park Service would not insist on acquisition <br />of the Hayward Pond neighborhood but would request right of first <br />refusal in the case of the sale of more than � of the properties. The <br />Park Service would also want to install screening and fencing at their <br />boundary with that area. A meeting of the Park Service with residents <br />is planned for June 30. He urged ongoing attention by the Town to the <br />interests of the residents. <br />
