She suggested that a <br />small model in the original color be placed inside the Tavern. <br />PP <br />S . <br />Lawrence Whipple, Historical Society Historian, was in favor of <br />leaving the Tavern white but with removal of the shutters. <br />Mr. Marshall estioned whether this proposal was one which could <br />� BUSINESS <br />appropriately be Judged under Design Guidelines for the CENTRAL PP <br />DISTRICT and said he was sympathetic with the efforts toward <br />authenticity. <br />Mr. Eddison said he would like the benefit of the viers Of the <br />Advisory Cam - ittee before deciding on the matter. He added that <br />Design rY � � <br />he was not making 'a statement of opposition bu t felt that certain <br />procedures should be followed. <br />Mrs. Smith said she would be happy with the colors proposed but not <br />with removal of trees or shrubs. <br />Mr. McSweeney said he found the new colors pleasing, but agreed <br />with D.A.C. i.nvolvement. <br />Mr. Marshall said he would not oppose D.A.C. involvement, but had <br />felt that it would make the process unnecessarily camplex. <br />motion duly made and seconded, it was voted that the Design <br />� � sal for Advisory Cammittee will be asked for advice on the proposal changes <br />to the e of the Buckman Tavern, before decision is made by the .r <br />ppear <br />Selectmen <br />MIDDLESEX COUNTY CHARTER COMMISSION <br />pawl M e aneY gas of wcburn, district's representative o n the <br />Middlesex County Charter Carmission recapped procedure s of the <br />Cammission since its formation in November 1985 Since January of 1987, <br />two mee p month and four public hearings an s of the <br />Chart have been held. <br />There had been sparse debate on the question of abolishing County <br />Government and as a County employee , M Heaney said that he had <br />abstained from involvement. <br />He noted that agencies under County control such as Registry of <br />Deeds the Court Houses, Billerica and East Cambridge Correctional <br />Institutions and the County Hospital in Waltham. <br />He estimated that deliberations were about 75% canmpleted and that <br />the g eneral view was that County Gaverr1rient should remain sanewhat <br />the <br />intact with the County being broken into nine districts and keepin <br />cwt manag emen t type of operation. It had also been felt that the <br />Y �n a <br />County Treasur and the Registrar of Deed s should be PPa ioted, not <br />elected. <br />Final decision on the Charter is e xpected within three months. It <br />wl <br />' 11 be su b m itted to the House of Representatives before being voted on <br />by the citizens. <br />Mr. Heaney felt that, as ccnpared with others, Middlesex County <br />agencies are in g ood shape. He noted that jails would remain under <br />County jurisdiction for at least a year. <br />
