w6w <br />These developments pointed out the increasing need for services such as ... <br />the SHM program which the CoA, with input from the Human Services <br />Committee, has begun to develop. Questions arose such as whether the <br />program was useful for the elderly, their families and physicians; <br />administrative deficiencies in program operation; and the numbers of <br />residents who would benefit. The Human Services Committee spoke to <br />physicians about the program who regard it as a necessary and effective <br />one, Regarding administrative deficiencies, the VNCH Director has <br />developed more effective reporting procedures with the Town. <br />Regarding the number to be served by expansion of the program, Mr. <br />Lowell outlined the objectives of the Committee working in conjunction <br />with the Council on Aging, Minuteman Home Care and other Town and <br />community agencies*. <br />Program Design was outlined by Mr. Lowell and several remaining <br />issues to be clarified were touched upon. <br />The Human Services Committee recommended that $33,000 be allocated <br />for the Monitor program. An Additional. $4,000 is available through the <br />Board of Health. <br />Mr. Eddison expressed the appreciation of the Board for Mr. <br />Lowell's fine presentation. Mr. Marshall echoed those sentiments and <br />said he was pleased that the Committee had taken on the responsibility <br />with regards to determining Human Service Needs in the flown. The <br />Council on Aging was thanked for its ongoing excellent work with the <br />elderly and for taking a major step in developing the groundwork for <br />the SHM program. Mr. McSweeney described the services, including the <br />monthly newsletter, offered by the CoA.
