Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to approve Sewer Charges <br />Lieu/Betterm, in Lieu of Betterment as follows: <br />Nolan,, Norton & Co.,, Inc . $7 2 959.69 <br />(for 750 Marrett Road) <br />Boston Properties $12 <br />(f or 91 Hartwell Avenue) <br />Lincoln Hill Realty Trust Co. $5,738.62 <br />(for 11 and 12 Jean Road) <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted. to proclaim September <br />16 through 22, 198 4 , as "Emergency - Medical Services Week", in acknowledgement <br />of the significant contribution of those involved in the program to the <br />health and welfare of the citizens of Lexington. <br />Directive <br />'"�"'w'" <br />Mr . Hutchinson informed the Board that Governor Dukakis had recently <br />Seat belts <br />issued an, executive order requiring that all state employees wear seat <br />belts while operating or riding in state vehicles, and noted the request of <br />Registrar of Motor Vehicles Mackey' that municipal::.-of f is ials join with the <br />Governor in such a requirement for their employees. The Manager applauded <br />the Governor's action, and pointed out that such a directive issued by him, <br />had been in effect in Lexington since 1978. He noted. that an educational <br />film, "Room. to Live", which dramatically illustrates the benefits of seat- - <br />belt use, had been shown to Department Heads, and will be presented to all <br />Town employees in the near future. <br />Mr. Hutchinson was congratulated by the Board for his foresighted act ion <br />on this important aspect of motor vehicle safety. <br />Resign. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to accept the resig- <br />Langstaff <br />nation of Nancy Langstaff as a member of the Lexington Council for the Arts <br />Arts <br />effective immediately. The Board's appreciation for her service to the Town <br />Council <br />will be conveyed to Ms. Langstaff. <br />Traffic item <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to refer the request <br />Sen.Kraus <br />of residents of Greeley Village, relayed to the-Board by Senator Richard <br />Kraus, to the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee for its review and recomm- <br />endations on installation of "Senior Citizen Crossing" sign at Tewksbury <br />Street. Regarding a second request by the Senator for a crosswalk or a <br />"Pedestrian Crossing" sign at Worthen Road, Mr. Edd icon said that as a result <br />of his site review he could see a need for additional safety measures and <br />suggested that consideration be given to installation at that point of an <br />island on Worthen Road. The Manager will re- examine previous similar petitions <br />related to that location and will explore the suggestion for an island. Foll- <br />owing his report, decision will be made as to whether to refer the second item <br />to the Traffic Safety Advisory Committee., <br />Theatre Lic .
