-4- <br />f <br />Selectmen's Meeting April; 10, 1984 <br />Emerald St. Upon motion duly made and seconded,it was voted to support construction <br />of a portion of Emerald Street, with cul-de-sac design,, at a cost oaf $56, 000. <br />r <br />SunnyKnoll Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to reaffirm support of <br />Ave. the acceptance of Sunny Knoll Avenue. <br />Sewer User Mr. Hutchinson referred to the January 26 memo from Mr. Tonas zilck, inf orm- <br />Fee ing him of approval by the Mass. Division of water Pollution Control of the <br />Sewer User Charge System for recovering the cost of operating and #maintain- <br />ing the Lexington sewerage system defined in Lexington's.proposa.l satisfies <br />all federal and state grant agreement requirements. Mr. Hutchinsoni noted that <br />the Mass. D.W.C. now requests a vote of the Board .adopting the Sewer User <br />Charge System and a Fee Rate and recommended that action be taken 4ow at a <br />point when a comparatively low user fee is possible, noting the probability <br />of future increases in MD water rates by 20%0 <br />Mr. Sacco pointed out that the user fee, based on consumption 'f water <br />will significantly impact commercial users. Mr. Hutchinson noted the possi- <br />bility of adjusted rates in some cases. <br />The Town Manager said that user fee income would be used for maintenance <br />of the Town sewer system and related uses only. This would lessenthe demand <br />on free cash, since such expenses would no longer be tied to the tax levy. <br />He recommended adoption of the sewer use charge system, with a gra4ual increase <br />in rate to compensate for expected increased MDC water charges. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to institute. Sewer User <br />Fee system, with rates to be set at 43(, of water consumption. <br />A public hearing on Sewer Use Charge Regulations will be scheduled by the <br />Town Manager of ter the completion of Town Meeting. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to adjourn at10:26 p.m. <br />A true record, Attest: <br />Marion H.
