/ 7 <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />n. <br />-`' October 25, 1982 <br />1 <br />5 <br />1 <br />A regular meeting. of the Board of Selectmen was held in the Select- <br />men's Meeting Room,�Town Office Building, on Monday, October 25, 1982 at <br />7:30 P.M. Chairman Busa, Mrs. Battin, Mr, Politi, Mr. Sacco; 'Mr. Hutchin- <br />son, Town Manager, Miss Adler, Assistant to the Town Manager and Miss <br />Casey, Executive Clerk were present. <br />Mrs. Jacquelyn Smith and Mrs. Angela Frick met with the Board re- Hanscom <br />garding proposed commuter service from Hanscom Field. The f first request Field <br />is from Trav'l'ers Aire, Inc. consisting of two arrivals and two depart - Adv. Comm. <br />ures between Burlington,.N.J. and Hanscom in a Beechcraft B - at rush <br />hour times. The - second is Atlantic Air, Inc. proposing five flights per <br />weekday in Piper Chieftains. These requests bring the number of commu- <br />ter airline requests to three this year, the first was Northern Airlines <br />last February. <br />Mrs. Smith pointed out that commuter lines at Hanscom have not been <br />successful lasting only approximately eighteen months. She stated that <br />"given the engine - types and size of the proposed equipment (on the high <br />side for prop planes, but.far quieter than jet planes) and their light <br />schedules, as Drell as the fact that there is no current proliferation <br />of commercial lines.at she recommended that the Board approve. <br />Mrs. Frick was. -in agreement with Mrs. Smith's recommendations. <br />Upon motion duly made, and seconded, it was voted to approve the <br />proposed commuter service from Hanscom Field of the Trav'lers Aire, Inc. <br />and Atlantic Air, Inc. 'in 'that the Town has no objection to these services <br />at their - current flight schedules and with their current equipment. How- <br />ever, any changes - in these two areas should require a new ENF. The addi- <br />tional traffic to our overloaded road system remains a priority concern <br />of the Board of Selectmen will be monitored. <br />The Chairman thanked Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Frick for their diligence <br />in pursuing the changes at Hanscom Field and they retired from the meeting. <br />Mrs. Tina Forbes and Mrs. Molly Nye, Co- chairmen of the Lexington Lex. Arts <br />Arts Council met with the Board to give the Board an update on the Council's Council <br />activities during the past two years. <br />The formation of the committee was discussed and it was decided that <br />a staggered term system of appointments would be more beneficial to the <br />Council than the present method of appointments.. It was agreed that the <br />present members would, continue as appointed and the staggered term system <br />would be iniatiated in May. <br />The Chairman and the Board congratulated the Council for its en- <br />thusiasm and hard work particularly in its presentation on the Lexington <br />Arts Festival on October 9. <br />Mrs. Forbes and Mrs. Nye thanked the Board for meeting with them <br />and they retired from the meeting. <br />
