i <br />SELECTMEN'S MEETING <br />July 26, 19 <br />A regular meeting of the Board of Selectmen was held in Estabrook <br />Mall, Cary Memorial Building, can Monday, .July 26, 1982 at 7:30 P.M. <br />Chairman Bursa, Mrs. Batti , Mr, Crain, lair# Politi, Mr. Sacco; Mr. Hutch- <br />inson, Town Manager; Mr. Cohen, Town Counsel and Kiss Casey, Executive <br />lerk were present. <br />The Chairman opened the hearing on the petition of the Sun Oil Com- <br />pany for permission to remove three existing 4,000 gallon underground <br />gasoline storage tanks and replace with three 6,000 gallon underground <br />gasoline storage tanks on the premises at 301 Massachusetts Avenue at <br />Fouler Avenue. This would be an increase of 6,000 gallons of storage, <br />The Chairman read .the report of the Fire Chief recommending ap- <br />proval of the request with the stipulation that the Company comply with <br />all applicable regulations -contained in CRM 527 and the site be inspected <br />by the Fire Department prior to tanks being covered, <br />M . Richard Bun el.l, Area Real Estate Manager, Boston Division, <br />represented the Sun Gil Company. Mr. Bunnell explained that the present <br />tanks are old and subject to a risk of leakage and will be fib.ergla. s <br />covered. He explained that by increasing the storage capacity, it will <br />reduce the number of deliveries necessary and there would be less truck- <br />ing into the station.. Existing tanks will be removed under the super- <br />vision of the.Fire Chidf under State regulations. The tanks will not be <br />relocated, but will go into the area of the. old tanks after their re- <br />moval. <br />No one spoke in favor or in opposition and the Chairman declared the <br />hearing closed. <br />Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to grant permission <br />to the Sun Oil Company to remove three existing 4,000 gallon underground <br />gasoline storage tanks on the premises at 301 Massachusetts Avenue and <br />F ttler Avenue and install three 6,000 gallon underground gasoline stor- <br />age tanks. <br />Mr. Bun-ell thanked the Board' and retired from the meeting. <br />Mr. Harry. Meehan, District Manager of the Boston Edison Company met <br />with the Board to introduce himself as he is new in the area and to ex- <br />tend his services to the Town Officials. <br />After questions from the Manager and the Board relative to the high <br />cost of street lighting, which has been in excess of $300,000 annually, <br />Mr. Meehan stated that the Company is exploring a variety of innovations" <br />that will eventually pay off for cities and town. Mr. .Meehan is to arrange <br />for a Boston Edison official to contact Mr. Hutchinson soon regarding the <br />problem and will take into consideration. sir.
